Construction site where the crime took place
Previously, at around 3:00 a.m. on April 6, Hung broke into the construction site of a high-rise apartment building on Nguyen Tri Phuong Street (Ward 7, Vung Tau City) and murdered Mr. Le Van Chuong (born in 1973, from Ha Tinh, registered at 1344 30/4 Street, Ward 12, Vung Tau City and residing in Chau Duc District, Ba Ria-Vung Tau) in the office of the Construction Command Board.
After hiding Mr. Chuong's body next to a pile of construction materials, Hung disguised himself as a construction worker and drove out of Mr. Chuong's Honda Civic with license plate 72A-001.66.
After committing the crime, the perpetrator opened the side gate and escaped.
However, when the suspect discovered that the driver was not Mr. Chuong and that the security guard, Mr. Linh, did not open the gate, he immediately pulled out a gun and threatened Mr. Linh. When Mr. Linh ran away, the suspect chased after him and fired two shots, but fortunately missed.
Unable to find Mr. Linh, the subject returned to the gate and shot Mr. Tran Van Nhat (55 years old, residing in Rach Dua ward, Vung Tau city, also working as a construction security guard) in the thigh, took the key to open the side gate and ran out, leaving the car behind.
Immediately after the murder, the police force of the province and Vung Tau city were present at the scene to investigate and through professional measures identified the main perpetrator as Pham Manh Hung.
Hung used to work at this construction site and was a drug addict, having just returned from rehab 2 weeks ago. Hung has a wife and 2 children. Through investigation, Hung’s wife said that Hung had borrowed a motorbike to escape to Ho Chi Minh City and the police force urgently pursued the subject./.
