Caught man holding grenade, gun barricaded in house in center of Saigon
Police had to open fire while chasing a suspect who was holding a grenade and gun and barricading himself in a house in District 10 on the 6th day of Tet and were finally able to arrest him.
This afternoon, the police force arrested suspect Tran Duy Chinh (born 1971, from Nam Dinh, residing in District 10), who was holding a grenade and gun and barricading himself in a house located in an alley on Ly Thai To Street, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.

While on the run, Chinh robbed a motorbike of a resident in Dinh Quan district, Dong Nai province, and was pursued by the police. During this process, Chinh fired a gun at the police.
Arriving at Tan Phu district, Dong Nai, the police discovered traces and proceeded to surround the suspect, but Chinh continued to shoot at the police but no one was hit. The police fired many shots to suppress and arrest Chinh.
Currently, the police are transferring Chinh to District 10 Police to serve the investigation.
Up to now, Ho Chi Minh City Police also provided detailed information about the case related to Tran Duy Chinh. This is a criminal subject of Nam Dinh Provincial Police, with many previous convictions for "theft of property".

Specifically, at around 3:30 p.m. on January 30 (the 6th day of Tet), Ward 9 Police, District 10 received a report from the public about a suspect illegally buying and selling drugs in front of house number 289 Ly Thai To, so they sent 2 officers to the scene.
When the police arrived, they discovered a suspicious man, later identified as Chinh, so they asked to check his administrative and personal documents.
However, Chinh did not comply with the request but suddenly pulled out an object suspected to be a gun to threaten, then ran into the house in the alley at number 289/1 to hide.
Due to suspicion that the subject had a dangerous weapon, to ensure safety, the Police of Ward 9 and District 10 blocked off a section of Ly Thai To Street; at the same time, they notified the Ho Chi Minh City Police.

The police surrounded the house, identified as Chinh's biological mother's house, and tried to persuade Chinh, but he remained barricaded inside. At 10 p.m., the police cut off the electricity to the house, but Chinh remained silent inside.
It was not until the morning of January 31 that the police raided the house, but did not find any trace of Chinh. When searching the house, they confiscated many weapons such as: an air gun that shoots ball bearings, a pistol magazine, 13 bullets, many knives, machetes, crossbows used for methamphetamine, hammers, pliers, 3 motorbike license plates from different provinces and cities, some documents...
In addition, the police also confiscated a black cloth bag containing a battery with wires connected to the outside and many wires suspected to be homemade explosives.
Identifying this as a dangerous subject, possessing weapons and explosives for the purpose of committing crimes, the police organized a manhunt. While following the trail, on the morning of February 2, the police discovered, opened fire, and arrested the subject Chinh in Dong Nai.
