Bui Dinh Khanh - the drug dealer who shot and killed a 29-year-old major has been arrested
Bui Dinh Khanh, the suspect in the shooting that killed police major Nguyen Dang Khai, has just been arrested after nearly a day on the run.
Police forces coordinated to arrest Khanh at 10:00 p.m. on April 18 in Thanh Hoa city.
Khanh was one of five drug trafficking suspects surrounded by Quang Ninh Provincial Police on the evening of April 17. Four were arrested shortly afterwards, but Khanh escaped.
On the night of April 17, authorities discovered Khanh using multiple vehicles to travel toward Hai Duong province. At around 0:30 this morning, near Phu Thai gas station, Kim Thanh district, Hai Duong province, the suspect got into a container. At around 10:30 the same day, he bought clothes at a store in Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province.

Authorities said that at around 8:20 p.m. on April 17, near the Dragon Castel apartment building in Ha Long city, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Quang Ninh Province Police caught Nguyen Huu Dang, 58, and Ha Thuong Hai, 31, red-handed buying and selling 16 heroin cakes.
At the same time, reconnaissance teams continued to surround Khanh's group from Phu Tho province to Quang Ninh to trade drugs with Dang. At the Dai Yen toll station, the group fought back fiercely with AK guns to rescue their accomplices. In the sudden attack, Lieutenant Nguyen Dang Khai (officer of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Quang Ninh Provincial Police) and two soldiers were injured.
Mr. Khai, 29 years old, died due to severe injuries. According to initial accusations, Khanh was the shooter.
After searching for the suspects all night, at 4:30 a.m. on April 18, the authorities arrested two more suspects from Khanh's group, Ha Quang Son and Hoang Van Dong.

On April 18, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang signed a decision to posthumously promote the rank of Major Khai.
On the same day, President Luong Cuong signed a decision to posthumously award the First Class Military Exploit Medal to Major Khai for his exceptionally outstanding achievements in combat and combat service.
Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh signed the decision to award the Certificate of Merit to Mr. Khai.
The Central Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union decided to posthumously award the "Brave Youth" badge to martyr Khai.
