Beautiful white kangaroo spotted roaming the Australian grasslands

(Baonghean.vn) – Another reason to visit beautiful Australia when recently, a kangaroo with pure white fur was seen walking in the Murray River area, South Australia. The photo then became the focus of Australian social networks with more than 1 million views and shares.

In early February 2015, a woman in South Australia posted a photo of a rare pure white kangaroo on her company’s social media page. The photo quickly became a hit on Australian social media.

“I grabbed my camera and jumped out of the car, and at the same time the kangaroo stopped and looked to see if we were going to chase it,” said Rosemary Faehrmann, the woman who took the photos. “It stood at a distance and stared at us for a minute while I took a series of photos. Then it ran along the fence and disappeared.”

Rosemary added that she sees kangaroos every day but has never seen a white kangaroo.

“There are very few white kangaroos in the wildlife parks, Bordertown and Cudlee Creek. These places take care of and protect them because their struggle for survival in the wild is very difficult.”

“I was so excited and I think everyone else was,” she said. The photo has been viewed more than 1 million times on Facebook and has been shared widely by the South Australian Tourism Commission on its websites in the UK, Germany and India.

Albinos tend to have a short lifespan because their white fur makes them stand out and makes them easy targets for predators. Their white skin is also susceptible to skin cancer, and their genetic makeup makes them prone to ear and eye problems. These disadvantages make it difficult to defend against predators.
