Arrested 2 thieves specializing in stealing in Big C supermarket

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 10, Vinh City Police announced that they had just arrested two subjects: Le Thi Tiep (53 years old), residing in Nghi Thinh commune, Nghi Loc district and Bui Binh (41 years old), residing in Doi Cung ward (Vinh city) for theft of property.

Previously, Vinh City police had repeatedly received complaints from people who had their pockets picked by thieves when they went to Big C supermarket to buy goods. Most recently, on March 4, 2012, Ms. Tran Thi Phuong, a resident of Ha Tinh, was taking the elevator in the supermarket when a thief stole her wallet containing 36 million VND, 3,300 USD and many other assets and personal documents.

Immediately after the loss, Ms. Phuong went to Vinh City Police to report the incident. Upon receiving the victim's report, Vinh City Police detectives searched for the suspects. Knowing that it would be difficult for Tiep to escape, he turned himself in to Vinh City Police, and Binh was arrested shortly thereafter.

Vinh City Police said that Tiep and Binh are professional thieves who have long been on the police's radar. At the investigation agency, Binh and Tiep confessed to stealing Ms. Phuong's property. The two suspects said that when they saw Ms. Phuong entering the Big C supermarket dressed elegantly, they assumed that she was carrying a lot of money, so they followed her.

When Ms. Phuong got off the elevator to leave, Tiep and Binh mingled with the crowd and took money from the customer's wallet without being detected. Police investigators said that in addition to stealing a large amount of money from Ms. Phuong, Binh and Tiep also committed many other crimes.
