Through traffic cameras, the police saw two trucks transporting goods with suspicious signs, so they went to check and discovered a "huge" amount of drugs.

On April 19, Ho Chi Minh City Police prosecuted and detained Yeh Ching Wei (33 years old), Chiang Wei (31 years old, both Taiwanese) and Bui Nguyen Huy Vu (38 years old) to investigate the act of storing and transporting more than 1.1 tons of crystal meth.

These drugs were brought from abroad to Vietnam, brought to Ho Chi Minh City to be exported to other countries and also for domestic consumption.

Earlier, at noon on April 12, traffic police observed traffic cameras and discovered 3 cars parked illegally. Among them, 2 trucks were rear-ending each other while a 7-seat car was parked next to them. Suspecting that these people were transporting contraband, the authorities came to check.

Seeing the police, the truck that had just received the goods and the 7-seat car sped away on Vo Van Kiet Avenue, heading towards Thu Thiem Tunnel (District 1). The traffic police informed the units to coordinate, and at the same time chased the two vehicles to the tunnel entrance and stopped them.

On the truck with Dong Nai province license plate, there were many cardboard boxes containing some black portable speakers from Temeisheng brand and they were unusually heavy. The owners, Yeh Ching Wei and Chiang Wei Chih, could not produce any documents. These two people were detained.

The next morning, many traffic police, criminal police, drug crime prevention police, Ho Chi Minh City People's Procuracy... simultaneously searched several places and discovered 60 cardboard boxes containing portable speakers. The speakers contained hundreds of yellow nylon bags, labeled as a Chinese tea brand, but inside there was a total of more than 600 kg of crystal meth.

Expanding the investigation, the police discovered that Ngoc Van Transport Company was asked by a company in Thailand to deliver 60 speaker boxes to a hotel in Bien Hoa City (Dong Nai). In addition, 5 similar boxes were delivered to the house of Bui Nguyen Huy Vu (38 years old) on Cu Lao Street, Phu Nhuan District.

Ngoc Van Company recently received information from its Thai partner, requesting to destroy the remaining goods in the warehouse. Searching the company's warehouse, authorities seized 38 loudspeakers containing nearly 500 kg of crystal meth.

In total, the police seized 103 speaker boxes containing more than 1.1 tons of drugs. This is the largest amount of drugs ever seized in Ho Chi Minh City. With the method of hiding drugs in speaker boxes, the investigation agency suspects that the source of the goods may be the same owner as the more than 1 ton of drugs recently discovered in Nghe An.

A series of cases of drug trafficking with extremely large quantities have been discovered by the authorities recently. Two days ago, Nghe An Provincial Police discovered 23 sacks on National Highway 48B, Quynh Thuan Commune, Quynh Luu District. Upon inspection, the authorities discovered nearly 1 ton of crystal meth inside. Searching a warehouse more than 10 km away, the police found 50 loudspeakers believed to have previously contained the sacks of drugs.

In March, the Criminal Investigation Police Department dismantled a drug trafficking ring from the Golden Triangle to Vietnam and then exported to other countries. 1.1 tons of crystal meth were seized in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City; 7 people were arrested. The ringleader was identified as Wu HeShan (57 years old, Chinese nationality), who had been in Vietnam for 10 years, and established a front company in Binh Tan District (Ho Chi Minh City) to carry out drug trafficking.

Late on March 27, the An Suong Traffic Police Team (Ho Chi Minh City Police) patrolled and stopped two cars and discovered nearly 900 heroin cakes inside..The drugs were also transported by Chinese suspects to Ho Chi Minh City for export to a third country.

Ho Chi Minh City police are coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security and the police of Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces to clarify the relationship between the newly discovered similar shipments. The investigation agency is also verifying the role of a number of people of Thai, Lao and Malaysian nationality.
