Emergency arrest of doctor who killed someone and threw the body into the river

Currently, Hanoi police are coordinating with provincial police to search for the victim's body.

On the afternoon of October 22, at the press conference of the Hanoi Party Committee, Colonel Duong Van Giap, Head of the Criminal Police Department - Hanoi City Police, said that last night (October 21), the investigation agency had urgently arrested and prosecuted Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuong (born in 1973, registered at 66 A Co Nhue, Tu Liem District, Hanoi), Director of Cat Tuong Aesthetic Center, for murder. At the same time, 10 employees of this aesthetic facility were summoned to continue investigating the case of causing death and concealing evidence for strict handling before the law.

According to Colonel Giap, the case was discovered at around 11pm on October 19th on Co Linh Street, Thach Ban Ward, Long Bien District by a resident who discovered a black motorbike parked sideways with the key still in the vehicle. After that, this person used the phone in his bag to call the vehicle owner's family. After arriving at the scene, Mr. Nguyen Huu Huy (born in 1973) confirmed that the motorbike belonged to his wife, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huyen (born in 1974). Mr. Huy immediately reported to the police of Thach Ban Ward. After that, the Criminal Police Department - Hanoi Police received the initial statement to investigate the case.

The police investigation agency immediately coordinated with the district police to conduct professional measures, examine the scene and organize investigation verification.

Through investigation, the police determined that there was information that Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huyen, the head of the airline ticket sales department of Saigon Travel Company, branch in Hanoi, wanted to go to a beauty salon to have her breasts redone. Through the documents collected, the police determined that on the evening of October 19, Ms. Huyen went to Cat Tuong Beauty Center at 45 Giai Phong Street, Dong Tam Ward, Hai Ba Trung District.

This center opened in April 2013 with Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuong, who works at the Department of Surgery at Bach Mai Hospital, as director and has 20 employees.

Colonel Giap added that this cosmetic facility was granted a business registration certificate but did not have a license from the Hanoi Department of Health to conduct surgery and cosmetic surgery.

However, according to Dr. Tuong's statement, the facility has been performing cosmetic surgery since the beginning of the year.

The police clarified that at around 9am on October 18, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Huyen went to Cat Tuong Cosmetic Surgery to have liposuction and breast augmentation surgery and deposited 50 million VND. According to the appointment, at 11am on October 19, Ms. Huyen came to have the surgery. At around 12pm, Dr. Tuong, along with the Center's staff, Le Thi Ngoc Van and Bui Thi Hoa, and another nurse, performed anesthesia and removed all the fat from her abdomen.

According to the testimony, Dr. Tuong used a syringe to suck about 11 fat tubes from the abdomen, then used the syringe to inject fat into Ms. Huyen's two breasts until about 4:00 p.m. After that, 3 staff members took Ms. Huyen to the outer room to rest. 30 minutes later, Ms. Huyen showed signs of convulsions and foaming at the mouth. Dr. Tuong injected medicine into Ms. Huyen, but a while later, the staff discovered that Ms. Huyen was cyanotic and her blood pressure could not be measured. Dr. Tuong instructed the staff to give IV fluids, inject anti-shock drugs, give oxygen, etc., and perform emergency measures, but Ms. Huyen was still foaming at the mouth, not breathing, and had a purple face. Dr. Tuong realized that Ms. Huyen was clinically dead and continued emergency treatment, but Ms. Huyen had died.

Seeing Ms. Huyen dead, out of fear of responsibility, Dr. Tuong let some staff go home, then with some other staff packed up medical equipment and books to hide elsewhere. At night, Dr. Tuong used his personal car with security guard Dao Quang Khanh (born in 1996) to carry Ms. Huyen's body down to the car. Khanh went on a motorbike first, while Dr. Tuong followed in a car, driving around and then to the Co Linh area. After that, Khanh dropped the car on the sidewalk and got into Tuong's car, driving on the dike road to Thanh Tri bridge. In the middle of the bridge, Tuong stopped the car and with Khanh carried Ms. Huyen's body and threw it into the river.

Currently, Hanoi police are coordinating with police from Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Hai Phong provinces and the waterway traffic police force on this river route to search for the victim's body.
