Seized shipment of pangolin scales "disguised" as personal items
The Customs Department of Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC) said that this agency has just seized a shipment of more than 40kg of pangolin scales illegally imported into Vietnam.
Accordingly, through the inspection of a shipment from Nigeria via Türkiye to Tan Son Nhat airport declared as personal belongings, the airport customs force discovered suspicion and conducted an inspection. Thereby, 42.2 kg of scales of the African Pangolin (scientific name Manis Tricuspis, an endangered species) were discovered.
