Unexpected series of cars increase prices against the trend at the beginning of April
Entering April, many assembled and imported car models enjoying 0% tax in Vietnam simultaneously increased their selling prices by tens of millions of dong, making consumers disappointed.
In April, many car manufacturers in Vietnam simultaneously adjusted the retail prices of many car models.
Opening the bull racecar priceThis April is Honda Vietnam. This car company unexpectedly increased the selling price of 4 imported car models enjoying 0% tax from Thailand by 5 million VND.
Specifically, according to the new price list, the Honda CR-V has a retail price ranging from 963 million VND to 1.73 billion VND, depending on the version. The Honda Civic has a new price ranging from 763-903 million VND. The D-class sedan Honda Accord has increased from 1.198 billion VND to 1.203 billion VND. Finally, the small urban car Honda Jazz has a selling price ranging from 544-624 million VND.

The reason Honda Vietnam gave for adjusting the prices of the above series of cars is that the company has to recalculate the costs affected by importing cars according to the new regulations of Decree 116.
Another Japanese car company that also adjusted its car prices up this April is Nissan. Accordingly, from April 2018, the two popular models of this Japanese car company, Nissan Sunny and X-Trail, will be adjusted up by 20-25 million VND.

Specifically, all 5 versions of the X-Trail SUV have increased by 25 million VND. The new selling price of the Nissan X-Trail at the dealer ranges from 878 million VND to 1.013 billion VND, depending on the version. The Nissan Sunny XV model has been adjusted up from 468 million VND to 439 million VND. In addition, in April, Nissan's promotional programs and accessory gifts are no longer applicable.
Not to be outdone, Korean car company Hyundai also adjusted the price increase by 20 million VND for 11 of its products in Vietnam.
Accordingly, Hyundai Elantra increased its retail price from 9-20 million VND, depending on the version. Specifically, Elantra 1.6AT increased by 20 million VND, Elantra 1.6MT increased by 11 million VND and Elantra Sport increased by 9 million VND.

Hyundai Santa Fe also increased by 10-20 million VND, depending on the version. Specifically, the standard Santa Fe 2.4 gasoline engine is currently priced at 908 million VND, the current price of the Santa Fe 2.4 special gasoline engine is 1.040 billion VND. The remaining two diesel engine versions have new selling prices of 980 million VND and 1.090 billion VND.
Meanwhile, all three 1.2L hatchback versions of the Grand i10 model increased by 10 million VND, the current selling price increased from 340-405 million VND.
Hyundai also adjusted the price for all 4 versions of the Hyundai Tucson model by 10 million VND, the new selling price ranges from 839-900 million VND.
Thus, after more than a year of waiting to buy cheap cars, many people feel disappointed because the car prices have not decreased as expected. The fact that many car manufacturers have simultaneously adjusted the retail prices of imported and domestic models up shows that the "dream" of buying cheap cars for Vietnamese people is still quite far away.
