On December 25, the High-Tech Crime Prevention Police Department, Hanoi City Police, said that the unit had clarified the property appropriation behavior of Nguyen Hoang Anh and his accomplices.
Specifically, according to documents from the investigation agency, Nguyen Hoang Anh (born in 1986, residing in Vinh city, Nghe An) used tricks to steal credit card information on the Internet, then used this information to book a hotel room in Singapore and was successful.
In June 2013, Hoang Anh discussed with Mai Quoc Viet and Nguyen Hai Ha to use this form to book rooms at hotels in Vietnam through two websites: expe...com and ago...com. However, in reality, Hoang Anh and his accomplices did not stay at these hotels but instead colluded with the subjects staying at the hotels to withdraw money from the Expedia company to share.
According to the confession, Hoang Anh received 50%; Ha and Viet received 10%; the remaining 40% was divided among the subjects at the hotel.
To commit his crime, Hoang Anh went to the Feshop website... to buy credit card information for prices ranging from 3 USD to 15 USD. Then he continued to go to vip72.com to buy an account, then changed the IP.
Nguyen Hai Ha, along with Dao Viet Anh and Vo Viet Phuong, were tasked with finding hotels that had contracts with Expedia and colluding with hotel staff to make reservations. Hoang Anh then registered information through the purchased accounts.
By this method, from June 2013 to now, the subjects have successfully booked rooms at 19 hotels in Vietnam; including 9 hotels in Hanoi, thereby appropriating an amount of up to 700 million VND (the total amount from bookings is determined to be about 1.4 billion VND).
According to Senior Lieutenant Du Dinh Hieu - Deputy Head of Team 2 of the High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (PC 5) of Hanoi Police: This is a new method and method of operation of these subjects. Team 2 discovered the above behavior since August 2013, but only now has enough evidence to summon the subjects. At the police station, the subjects honestly confessed their crimes.
Based on documents and statements of the subjects, PC 50 currently has sufficient grounds to prove the acts of: Using computers and the Internet to commit acts of property appropriation of the above subjects./.
