Slashing students in the middle of the school yard
On April 6, a case occurred right in the middle of Vinh University campus, causing thousands of students to be confused and worried. Accordingly, after school, Lu Trong Dat (born in 1997, from Quy Chau district), a student at Vinh University, had just stepped out of the classroom door when he was suddenly hit in the head with a brick by a subject, causing Dat to fall to the ground unconscious.
Seeing his friend being beaten, Cao Tuan Duong (born in 1994, residing in Cua Nam Ward, Vinh City) immediately ran to stop the attack, but the group used a weapon to slash Duong's head multiple times, causing him to collapse to the ground. After committing the crime, the group quickly escaped. Dat and Duong were taken to the 115 General Hospital for emergency treatment.

Vinh City Police detained Hoang and Huy to continue investigating and expanding the case. |
The incident occurred right at the end of the school day, causing panic among students. It is worth mentioning that when the incident occurred, some students of the school used their mobile phones to take pictures of the incident, then posted them on social media with mixed and even negative comments, causing public outrage.
Considering the complexity of the case, Vinh City Police established Project 666G, and at the same time focused forces to investigate and arrest the subjects. Under the direction of the Head of the Project, a working group was assigned to review subjects with criminal records for intentional injury; at the same time, take the opportunity to meet, visit, and encourage the victims, thereby learning more about the victims' social relationships to promptly investigate, clarify, and arrest the criminals.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoa - Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Team (Vinh City Police) said: During the crime, the perpetrator covered his face, although the school's camera system recorded the incident, it was impossible to identify the facial features of the subjects. Therefore, the investigation encountered many difficulties.
Through initial investigation, the detectives determined that Mr. Cao Tuan Duong was the one who was unjustly slashed. Mr. Dat most likely had a personal conflict with one of the four perpetrators. Based on the above assessment, the detectives took the opportunity to meet and discuss with Mr. Dat.
With sharp professional measures, after collecting sufficient documents and evidence, on April 30, the Vinh City Police Department issued an arrest warrant and urgently searched Dau Xuan Huy and Dau Xuan Hoang for the act of intentionally causing injury. As for Vo Hong Dong, who is under 18 years old and was bailed by his family, the police department released him on bail, but prohibited him from leaving his place of residence.
He asked his younger brother to "deal with" his friend.
Confessing to the police, Mr. Dat said: About 6 months before the incident, he joined the shock force of Vinh University and had a conflict with a student at the same school named Hoang, but it is not clear which class he was in, only that he lived in Vinh City.
Conducting investigation and verification, detectives identified the person who had a conflict with Mr. Dat before as Dau Xuan Hoang (born in 1993, residing in Hamlet 13A, Nghi Kim Commune, Vinh City). When the incident occurred, Hoang was also present in the classroom with the victim.

The subjects in the case. |
Working with the investigation agency, Hoang denied and said that it was a normal conflict between students?!. However, with experience in solving crimes, detectives discovered that Hoang had suspicious signs so they put him on the list of suspects and secretly followed him.
After a period of persistent investigation and examination of Hoang's relationships, the detectives found a suspect named Dau Xuan Huy (born in 1994), Hoang's younger brother. Verifying Huy's relationships, the detectives found two suspects related to the case, including Vo Hong Dong (born in 1998) and Tran Duc Son Nam (born in 1995), both residing in Quan Bau ward, Vinh city. In particular, Nam had a previous conviction for intentional injury, and is currently absent from the area, suspected of being on the run.
Through the fight with the subjects, the investigation agency clarified: More than a year ago, Dau Xuan Hoang went to the Boarding High School (located in Nghi An commune, Vinh city) to play and met Lu Trong Dat (born in 1997, residing in Cuom village, Dien Lam commune, Quy Chau district). Here, due to jealousy in the relationship between male and female friends, Hoang and Dat had a conflict.
About 5 months after the incident, the two got into another fight. From then on, Hoang had the idea of taking revenge on Dat. At around 11:30 a.m. on April 6, Hoang was studying in room 101, building A4, Vinh University when he discovered that Dat was also studying in this room. Thinking this was a rare opportunity for revenge, Hoang texted his younger brother, Dau Xuan Huy, to "deal with" Dat.
After receiving the message, Huy invited Vo Hong Dong, Tran Duc Son Nam and some other people to come and "show off" to Mr. Dat. Huy and the other people brought weapons and drove motorbikes to Vinh University to deal with Dat. When Mr. Duong tried to stop him, he was also slashed.
After consolidating the case file, recently, the Vinh City Police Department has initiated a criminal case and prosecuted Dau Xuan Hoang, Dau Xuan Huy and Vo Hong Dong for intentionally causing injury; and issued a decision to temporarily detain Dau Xuan Hoang and Dau Xuan Huy for intentionally causing injury for 2 months to serve the investigation. As for the subject Tran Duc Son Nam, he has fled the locality, and the investigation agency is currently calling for him to surrender to enjoy leniency under the law.
