Bus driver arrested for driving into abyss, killing 22 people
The driver who caused the accident on the La Son - Tuy Loan highway in Da Nang City has just been prosecuted and detained for 4 months by the Hoa Vang District Police in Da Nang City for violating traffic regulations, resulting in 20 casualties.
On February 1, the Hoa Vang District Police (Da Nang City) announced that they had prosecuted and temporarily detained driver Phuong Thanh Tung (born in 1988, from Dak Lak) for 4 months to investigate the act of "violating regulations on road traffic participation causing the death of 2 people according to point d, clause 2, Article 260 of the Penal Code.

According to the initial investigation, at around 1:30 a.m. on January 23, a 45-seat passenger bus with license plate number 47B 010.67 driven by driver Phuong Thanh Tung was traveling on the La Son - Tuy Loan highway in the South - North direction. This passenger bus was traveling on the Dak Lak - Hai Duong route, carrying 22 people (19 passengers, 3 bus staff). At Km36+400 (in Hoa Bac commune, Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city), the bus plunged into a deep ravine.


As a result, the accident killed two passengers, NTV (born in 1961; residing in Eakar district, Dak Lak province) and V.D.D (born in 1938; residing in Hung Yen province); many others on the bus were injured.
Through investigation, the police determined that while driving downhill and cornering, due to the rain and slippery road, Tung lost control of the steering wheel, causing the car to swerve, hit the embankment on the left side of the road, and then plunged into the abyss.
