(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 9th, Colonel Tran Sy Phang, Head of the Nghi Loc District Police, announced that the district's investigative agency has initiated a criminal case, indicted the suspect, and detained Cao Van Chuong (born in 1963, residing in Chua Hamlet, Nghi Yen Commune, Nghi Loc District) – former director of Bac-Bai Lu Construction Company Limited – for two months to investigate the crime of "illegally trading invoices".

During the investigation, the Nghi Loc District Police clarified that from June 2011 to September 2014, Cao Van Chuong had 1,000 value-added tax (VAT) invoices printed, half of which were not registered for issuance at the Nghi Loc District Tax Office. These invoices were then sold by Chuong to 37 businesses in Nghe An province and 11 businesses in Lang Son, Ninh Binh, Son La, Da Nang, and Hanoi. To avoid detection by authorities, Chuong only recorded amounts under 20 million VND on each invoice. The total value of goods recorded on the invoices amounted to nearly 7 billion VND, corresponding to approximately 700 million VND in VAT.

Authorities have now proven the specific actions of more than 10 businesses involved in the buying and selling of invoices with Cao Van Chuong, resulting in tax evasion totaling over 200 million VND. The Nghi Loc District Police investigation agency is continuing to investigate the tax evasion activities related to the buying and selling of invoices.
