Inconvenient because there are no public toilets
(Baonghean) - A friend in Ho Chi Minh City had the opportunity to go to Vinh for work and asked me to be her "tour guide" to visit the city. After 4 days of sightseeing, besides praising the rapid development of the first-class urban area, she could not help but complain about the inconvenience because when she needed to solve the sensitive problem of "looking with red eyes", she could not find any public toilets, even on some major streets, public entertainment areas such as Cua Nam Flower Garden, Square, Youth Park... In areas such as train stations, bus stations, and wharves, there are public toilets that charge fees but they are shabby and dirty.
Vinh City is aiming to build a civilized, modern urban area - the cultural and political center of the North Central region, but the planning of a public toilet system to serve the needs of the people seems to have not been given due attention, if not "forgotten". Because even in the "Summary of the main contents of the adjustment of the general planning of Vinh City construction to 2025" there is no mention of the planning of this system of works. Although the city's land fund is not as limited and cramped as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang and some other cities in the country.
With the rapid urbanization, combined with the increase in the mechanical population and the increasing number of tourists to the city as it is now, in the long term, it is necessary to consider a seemingly small but extremely important matter: Reasonable location planning and a plan to build and manage a system of public toilets with signs in central areas to serve the needs of residents and tourists, ensuring the criteria of a civilized and modern city. Along with planning and construction, there needs to be a mechanism to operate the toilets to ensure they are always clean.
