His actions constituted the crime of "Intentionally inflicting serious bodily harm on another person" with a maximum penalty of 8 years in prison under the Russian Criminal Code. On December 23, 2014, Nosov fled abroad.
Determining that Denis was hiding in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, on October 26, the Criminal Investigation Department (C52) sent detectives to Khanh Hoa to coordinate with Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, dividing into 3 detective teams to capture him.
The detectives disguised themselves as motorbike taxi drivers and taxi drivers, following Hung Vuong, Biet Thu, and Tran Quang Khai streets, where there were affordable accommodations for foreigners. Discovering Denis on the second floor of a hotel, the detectives pretended to be tour operators to meet with a partner. As soon as Dennis opened the door, he was immediately subdued.
