Arrested case of illegal trafficking of nearly 500 kg of rare wild animals
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 28, 2015, the Environmental Crime Prevention Police Department of Nghe An Province Police announced that it had just coordinated with Tuong Duong District Police to arrest Tran Gia Ngu (born in 1956), residing in Lung Village, Tam Thai Commune, Tuong Duong District, for the act of illegally trading in large quantities of rare wild animals.

During the search of Tran Gia Ngu's house, the authorities discovered and seized 4 refrigerators containing about 500 kg of dead rare wild animals, including: 51 monkeys; 12 weasels, including 4 flying weasels and 1 wild cat belonging to group 1B, which are rare and endangered wild animals; 14 wild boar legs, 2 wild boar heads and wild boar meat.
Checking the secret cellar behind this subject's house, the authorities seized two more live monkeys that were kept in captivity, with serious injuries to their front legs and poor health.
Initially, Tran Gia Ngu confessed that he had purchased the wild animals from local people. Currently, Tran Gia Ngu and all the evidence have been taken to Tuong Duong District Police for further investigation.
