Mr. Duc and Mr. Thang pledge not to give up football

The two bosses who helped HAGL and DTLA win the V-League many times pledged together that whoever quits football will have to shave their beards.

"I affirm that I will never quit football. Mr. Duc also told me the same. Anyone who quits will have to shave their beard," said Mr. Vo Quoc Thang.

Mr. Vo Quoc Thang was once the chairman of Dong Tam Long An Club, then stepped down and handed over the reins to his younger brother Vo Thanh Nhiem. His team won the V-League championship for two consecutive seasons with coach Henrique Calisto in 2005 and 2006. However, in 2015, Dong Tam Long An Club changed its name to Long An Club, and in the 2017 season, it was relegated to the First Division.

Mr. Duc and Mr. Thang promised to continue to contribute to football.

At the General Meeting of Shareholders on the morning of December 3, Mr. Thang also resigned from his position as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company. His replacement is Mr. Tran Anh Tu, Chairman of Thai Son Nam Futsal Club.

"Many people say that after this event I quit football, which is not true. I did not withdraw, but I will retire after my term ends," Mr. Thang shared.

New Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Anh Tu revealed that he had a private conversation with his predecessor. And according to Mr. Tu, Mr. Thang is determined to continue to contribute to Vietnamese football as he has for the past 20 years.

Mr. Duc also submitted a resignation letter from the position of Vice President of VFF. However, the VFF Congress on December 1 rejected the letter and voted to require him to continue in this role until the end of the 7th term in March 2018.
