Mr. Duc 'fired' Korean coach

Mr. Duc decided to terminate the contract with coach Choi Yoon Gyum, because of Hoang Anh Gia Lai's poor performance in V-League 2014.

"Hoang Anh Gia Lai has terminated the contract with coach Choi Yoon Gyum," Head of Hoang Anh Gia Lai football team Nguyen Tan Anh confirmed.

Coach Choi Yoon Gyum came to lead Hoang Anh Gia Lai in 2011. Contrary to the expectations of boss Doan Nguyen Duc, the Korean strategist failed to create a fresh look in the team's playing style and went empty-handed in all competitions.

In V-League 2012, Coach Choi Yoon Gyum and Hoang Anh Gia Lai finished fifth. A year later, he led the team to second place. However, in 2014, the performance of the mountain town team declined again.

In the second leg of the 2014 V-League, Hoang Anh Gia Lai only earned nine points (two wins, three draws) - the lowest among the 12 teams participating in the National Championship. As a result, Mr. Duc's team finished in ninth place, the worst position in the history of Hoang Anh Gia Lai's participation in the V-League.
