How rich is Mr. Kien?

One might ask: “Why can a character like Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien create a “social shock” in a field considered to be “left-handed” like football while his right-handed field is fields related to finance and banking?

If the question is raised: "For someone who has thousands of billions of dong in hand, anything can be said to make sense." However, very few people give a specific answer: how rich is "boss" Kien?

*A mysterious character

A successful businessman, few people expect that Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien does not come from an "already rich" family.

When mentioning Kien-ACB, many former students of Cao Ba Quat High School-Gia Lam-Hanoi suddenly remembered the fat, short, dark boy who was naughty in the school yard. At that time, Nguyen Duc Kien was only under 10 years old, the son of a pair of extremely famous teachers at Cao Ba Quat School: principal Nguyen Duc Lung and literature teacher Nga. Teacher Lung, with many years as principal of Cao Ba Quat, was a famous teacher in Hanoi, many years winning the title of emulation fighter in the whole industry, the former students of the school still say to each other: "Teacher Lung deserves the title of Labor Hero". As for Ms. Nga, "studying literature with Ms. Nga is the honor of a lifetime".

Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien, born in 1964, is said to have eyes "extremely similar to his mother's" that shine with intelligence and sharpness.

His parents were excellent teachers and famous in the North at that time, but Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien did not pursue a career in education, but joined... the army. During the "Summit" between the bosses after the bomb at the VFF Closing Ceremony, boss Nguyen Duc Kien revealed "I used to be a soldier" which surprised many people.

It turns out that at the age of 17, “boss” Kien really joined the army but he studied at the Military Technical University, course 15 (B5- C 156- Company 156). One of the richest people in Vietnam today, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, former chairman of FPT Board of Directors, also studied at this school. Until now, former students of C156 are still proud: “C156 is a unit of international students whose members are the elite of Vietnam at that time”.

Nguyen Duc Kien was one of those elites, but instead of going to Russia, "Mr. Kien" was sent to study in Hungary, at the Zalka Maté Military Technical School (Hungary) - majoring in information technology - a very new and strange major at that time.

Life has many surprises. Mr. Kien studied military, went to Hungary to study information technology, but in 1986, when he returned to Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien became an officer of the Textile and Garment Corporation - Ministry of Trade.

And surprisingly, in 1994, Nguyen Duc Kien, then only 30 years old, became Vice Chairman of the Founding Board of Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) - one of the largest private banks in Vietnam.

*How rich is Mr. Kien?

In two words: very rich and very powerful. Many people will be dizzy with the resume and the places where Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien has worked: From 1994 to 2006: Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asia Commercial Bank; Chairman of the Board of Directors of MTT Fashion Garment Company; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thien Nam Company; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Caltex Asphalt Joint Venture Company; Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACB Sports Company; Vice Chairman and Chairman of KFC Vietnam Joint Venture Company; Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cho Lon Tourism Joint Stock Company, member of the Board of Directors of Thien Minh Tourism Joint Stock Company...

That is based on documents, it can be said that it still does not fully reflect the "wealth" of Mr. Kien.

In 2010, in the list of 100 richest people in Vietnam, with the number of ACB shares in hand, the assets of "Mr. Kien" were estimated at 805.9 billion VND, nearly 200 billion less than in 2008, partly due to the price of shares and the part transferred to relatives. The total number of accounts of Mr. Kien's family (calculated according to the stock market in 2010 is about 2,000 billion VND).

The question is that Mr. Kien, who is associated with ACB and is believed to hold a large amount of shares, has withdrawn from the management board of ACB Bank. According to the 2010 prospectus of ACB Bank, Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien is no longer on the Board of Directors.

But…

Actually, not many people knew how many banks “Mr. Kien” owned until he revealed the secret that he was the “major shareholder” of Eximbank – the partner that annually sponsored V.League with 30 billion VND. And Mr. Kien also revealed that he had shares in Kienlong Bank – the sponsor of Kienlong Bank – Kien Giang team that just joined V.League.

Kienlong - according to many sidewalk sources, this Bank was founded by HN.ACB boss Nguyen Duc Kien and HPHN boss Tran Dinh Long (ranked 4th among the 100 richest people in Vietnam in 2010 with assets of nearly 3,000 billion VND), Kien Long is Nguyen Duc Kien + Tran Dinh Long?

Wealth is not shown on the outside, even though Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien currently owns one of the most expensive and beautiful villas in Hanoi, located next to West Lake, on the "diamond" land in Hanoi.

And it is not shown in the Bensly supercar with license plate 56 that Mr. Kien leaves at Hanoi stadium every time he comes to watch football.

The important thing is the weight of the words and ideas of Mr. Nguyen Duc Kien - the person who not only decides the survival of a club but can also create pressure on an entire tournament and the entire VFF staff.
