Although many detailed specifications of the 5th generation stealth fighter Sukhoi T-50 have been revealed, Russia is still keeping secret the weapons of this aircraft model.
In an exclusive interview with Russian TV channel Zvezda, Mr. Radik Bariev, head of the Chkalov Aircraft Testing Center under the Russian Ministry of Defense, also did not reveal too much about the T-50's weapons system.
At first glance, the T-50's fuselage does not appear to have any weapon mounts. However, Mr. Radik Bariev confirmed that the T-50 is still armed.
The plane has its own place to mount weapons and it has everything needed, even more than needed, but let everyone use their imagination for the above “mystery”.
According to the Russian military, the weapons system is the most prominent feature on the T-50, so they need to keep it a secret until the last minute.
In relation to this story, the media once reported that: PAK FA has a special stealth feature, it is capable of reducing the radar cross section to that of a tennis ball when viewed from the optimal angle. To ensure this feature, the design engineers put all the aircraft's weapons systems inside and changed many parts with radio wave absorbing materials.
It is known that PAK-FA (T-50) is a fifth-generation fighter, which will be mass-produced from 2016. By the end of 2014, five such aircraft had been built and three more were under production. Earlier, the Aircraft Corporation said that by 2020, the Russian Air Force would receive 55 T-50 fighters.
In addition to its ability to fly at a maximum speed of 2,600 km/h, the T-50 is known as a “flying robot” thanks to its perfect control system and is a “treasure” of the Russian military aviation industry. According to the manufacturer, the aircraft is equipped with top-notch technology and weapons.
The T-50 was developed under the PAK-FA program at the Sukhoi Experimental Design Bureau to compete with the F-22 Raptor (USA) - the only 5th generation fighter in the world at the present time. The T-50 promises to be a worthy replacement for Russia's Su-27 and MiG-29 jet fighters.
