Hai Phong Border Guard chases away foreign fishing boats violating sovereignty
According to the representative of Hai Phong Border Guard, this agency has received and directly arrested, and advised the City People's Committee to handle 65 fishing boats with 410 foreign fishermen violating sovereignty to illegally catch seafood; made warning records to immediately release 35 boats with 315 foreign fishermen at sea, and chased away 139 foreign fishing boats violating sovereignty to illegally catch seafood.
According to the representative of Hai Phong Border Guard, this agency has received and directly arrested, and advised the City People's Committee to handle 65 fishing boats, released 35 boats at sea, and chased away 139 foreign fishing boats that violated sovereignty and illegally caught seafood.
The inspection force monitored 23 ships with 140 foreign fishermen operating in the common fishing area, and monitored 339 foreign fishing boats anchoring and avoiding the wind in Hai Phong waters, of which 50 were legal in Cat Ba and 289 were illegal in Bach Long Vy.
Through inspection and control, Hai Phong Border Guard force has detected, arrested and handled 5,193 cases. Particularly for smuggling cases, administrative penalties were imposed, local reports of goods being confiscated and auctioned were submitted to the State budget for over 17 billion VND.
Colonel Nguyen Van Nam, Commander of Hai Phong Border Guard, said that in the period from 2013 to 2020, the situation in the coastal border area in the city will have many complicated developments.
Hai Phong Border Guard has handled and arrested 5,193 cases, paying the State budget over 17 billion VND.
To continue to improve the effectiveness of the work of building, managing and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands and maintaining security and order in the maritime border area, the border guard force continues to advise the Hai Phong People's Committee to focus on strengthening the leadership and direction of the Party Committees and local authorities in coastal areas, clearly defining and enhancing the responsibility of functional agencies in performing tasks in the maritime border area.
The Border Guard will review and supplement the coordination regulations between functional forces, promote the combined strength to build a national border defense, a people's security posture associated with the mass movement, and participate in building and protecting sea and island sovereignty.
