(Baonghean.vn) - With its achievements over the past 60 years, the Border Guard of Nghe An province has been honored by the State with the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces twice and many other noble awards.

On April 23, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard (April 23, 1959 - 2019), the delegation of the Party Committee - Command of the Nghe An Provincial Border Guard held a ceremony to offer flowers, incense, and report on the achievements of President Ho Chi Minh at the Kim Lien relic site, Nam Dan district.

Attending the ceremony were Colonel Tran Hai Binh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander; Colonel Le Nhu Cuong - Party Committee Secretary, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard; along with comrades in the Standing Committee, Party Committee - Command and leaders of departments, offices and offices of the Provincial Border Guard Command.

The border guards respectfully offered the spirit of Uncle Ho a bouquet of fresh flowers and lit incense sticks to commemorate the genius leader of the Party and the Vietnamese people, the beloved Father of the armed forces; and at the same time reported to Uncle Ho the outstanding achievements that the unit's officers and soldiers had strived to achieve over the past 60 years.

During the years of fighting against the US to save the country, the unit's officers and soldiers steadfastly held their ground, together with the army and people of the province, eliminating and capturing 216 American and puppet spy commandos sent into Nghe An. They organized 572 combat battles to fight back against enemy aircraft, notably at the Nam Can Border Control Station and the Cua Hoi Border Control Station, which shot down 6 American aircraft with infantry guns.

In the past 10 years alone, the provincial Border Guard has established and coordinated to successfully fight 75 projects, including 57 drug projects, arrested and handled 553 cases/668 subjects, seized nearly 11 kg and 399 heroin cakes, more than 175 thousand synthetic drug pills, nearly 24 kg of crystal meth, 30 kg of opium and many other related exhibits; rescued 50 victims who were tricked and sold to China...

Nghe An Border Guard has actively participated in building political bases, developing socio-economics, helping people eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. It has implemented 15 socio-economic development projects, combining national defense and security with a capital of nearly 616 billion VND, contributing significantly to changing the face of the border and coastal areas of the province.
