Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai visited, encouraged, and provided support to soldiers and people in flooded areas in Nghe An border commune.
On July 30, a working delegation of the Border Guard Command (BĐBP) led by Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of the BĐBP visited, encouraged, gave support, and shared with the soldiers and people of Nghe An province's border.
Also participating in the working delegation of the Border Guard Command were: Major General Tran Hai Binh - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Border Guard; Major General Nguyen Xuan Toan - Political Commissar of the Border Guard; and representatives of accompanying units.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Dinh Bat Van - Commander of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command.

The recent historic floods caused heavy damage to the authorities and people of the highland localities of Nghe An province, in which the border commune of My Ly was identified as the "flood center" and suffered great losses.
According to local government statistics, the entire commune had 219 houses and 3 primary schools completely washed away, hundreds of houses were flooded, and many public works were destroyed.

Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai and his delegation went to the flood-affected areas to visit the local people. Talking to representatives of the local government and people, the Border Guard Commander expressed his deep understanding and sympathy for the losses that the local Party Committee, government and people of My Ly commune had to endure in the recent natural disaster.


Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai affirmed that, in anticipation of storm No. 3 with heavy rain, the Border Guard Command had directed units on the border line, including Nghe An Border Guard, to urgently deploy maximum troops and vehicles to coordinate with local authorities and forces to support people in responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. However, in the conditions of heavy and unpredictable floods, localities, including highland and border communes of Nghe An province, suffered very heavy losses. Immediately after the flood subsided, the forces promptly stepped in to overcome the consequences, helping people stabilize their lives.

“The Party, State, local authorities, forces and Border Guard will always stand side by side to support people to overcome difficulties and rebuild their houses and villages. Each officer and soldier of Border Guard will make many times more efforts to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters; at the same time, grasp the situation and aspirations of the people, promptly advise local authorities to come up with solutions to stabilize the people's lives in the long term,” Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai emphasized.

On this occasion, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai and the delegation and accompanying units presented 205 support packages to households that suffered heavy damage (each package worth 2.5 million VND). Along with that, the Border Guard of Nghe An province also presented support to 50 households that suffered damage caused by floods.

Visiting My Ly Border Guard Station, Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai praised the unit's officers and soldiers for promptly staying close to the area to help people respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
In the condition that the unit is also affected by floods, the unit command needs to maintain solidarity and unity, giving priority to supporting local people to overcome the difficulties of natural disasters and stabilize their lives. Lieutenant General Le Duc Thai also encouraged and visited soldiers whose houses were affected by the recent floods.
