(Baonghean.vn) - Less than a day old, she was abandoned by her biological mother. At only 19 months old, Phuong Anh suffered from many illnesses at the same time such as cerebral palsy, acute pneumonia, epilepsy... Lying in her grandmother's arms, her breathing was weak and writhing, her limbs were so skinny that they were only skin and bones.
That is the pitiful situation of baby Thai Thi Phuong Anh in Ky Tan commune, Tan Ky district. She was born with many misfortunes when her young mother abandoned her on the side of the road when she was less than 1 day old.

Newborn baby girl abandoned early morning near district medical center
(Baonghean.vn) - A newborn baby girl, just born about 2-3 hours ago, weighing 2.6 kg, was abandoned in an old basket, near Tan Ky District Medical Center.
It was a late spring morning, around 5am on April 15, 2017, Mr. Luong's family, living in Block 4, Lat town, Tan Ky district (an area near the district medical center) and relatives got up to exercise when they heard a newborn baby crying near the gate.Hearing the crying, Mr. Luong approached and discovered a newborn baby girl wrapped in a thin blanket, lying in an old basket with a few old clothes, her umbilical cord not yet clamped.
The baby was then transferred to the district health center. After examination, the doctor determined that the baby was about 2-3 hours old, weighed 2.6kg, and was completely healthy. Here, the health station staff took turns taking care of the baby, calling on people to donate milk and broadcasting information about the baby on the loudspeaker, but 7 days later, no relatives came to claim the baby. The local authorities completed the necessary procedures to hand over the baby to the adoptive family. Among the dozens of families who came to claim the baby, Mr. Hieu and Ms. Minh were moved to tears when they were lucky enough to adopt the baby girl.

Married for 17 years, Mr. Hieu and his wife, Ms. Minh, in Tan Son hamlet, Ky Tan commune (Tan Ky), have sought treatment everywhere but still cannot have a child to bring joy to their family. After receiving information about the baby girl, Mr. Hieu discussed with his elderly mother and wife to adopt the child. Since the baby was born, the family has been given a new source of life. Every day, Mr. Hieu participates in village activities, goes to construction, works as a bricklayer, and works in the fields. Ms. Minh does whatever she is hired to do. The elderly grandmother is responsible for taking care of the baby every day.
In the first months of her life, baby Phuong Anh was very well-behaved, ate well and slept soundly. The family was always filled with laughter. Unexpectedly, at around 4 months old, her body became weak with many unusual signs.
"The family took him for a test and found out he had congenital cerebral palsy. When he was 7 months old, his mother left. At first, I thought he would leave for a day or two and then come back, but unexpectedly he has been missing until now. His father works hard in the neighborhood, has to take care of the family's finances, and I haven't seen him talk or laugh for a long time. Everyone advised us to send him to an orphanage or a center for disabled children. But his father and I decided to take care of him," Ms. Hoa choked up.

My grandmother wishes she had a stroller to look after her grandchild, as it is becoming more and more difficult for her to hold her grandchild. She is 84 years old this year. Photo: Phuong Hao |
After taking the baby to the district, provincial and central hospitals for treatment many times, life gradually fell into misery and extreme poverty. However, because of the love for the child who was still too young, Mr. Hieu and his grandmother could not bear to let Phuong Anh suffer from illness. The family was exhausted, everything depended on 4 sao of contracted rice fields... Mr. Hieu was the main laborer, but his eyesight was gradually fading, so all work became even more difficult. Meanwhile, all the expenses for medicine and treatment for Phuong Anh at the hospital were getting more and more expensive, from borrowing money, to mortgaging the family's land book, the family had to reluctantly take the baby home for treatment.
Nearly 2 years since coming to life is also the same amount of time that baby Phuong Anh has endured the pain of illness. Phuong Anh is still too young to understand her tragic fate. Her stroller is now broken and she has no money to buy one. Her grandmother hopes to have a new stroller because now carrying her grandchild is really difficult for her.
