Nghe An girl amazes people with her 'miraculous' ability to memorize numbers
The girl from Nghe An province has surprised everyone at “Super Intelligence Vietnam” with her ability to memorize random numbers and colors with absolute accuracy after only looking at them for a few seconds.
In the latest episode of “Super Intelligence Vietnam”, the youngest challenger is Chu Thi Dan Nhi (12 years old), living in Nam Linh commune, Nam Dan district (Nghe An), currently studying in class 7A, Nam Linh Secondary School.
According to her uncle Nguyen Cao Cuong, Nhi has the ability to memorize random numbers accurately, and can read them from beginning to end and vice versa just by looking at them.
Coming to the program, Dan Nhi challenged herself to the challenge of "Color Positioning", expressing her wish to make her family proud of her. Accordingly, the program invited 50 martial artists from IVS Boarding School (under the Center for Research and Development of Vietnamese Martial Arts and Sports) to the stage. Each martial artist will wear a pair of random numbers, from 1 to 99, along with 1 of 3 typical belt colors of Vovinam. The challenger has time to memorize the number and belt color, then accurately reproduce all the serial numbers and belt colors of the 50 martial artists in both forward and reverse directions.
Assessing the difficulty of the performance, judges Lai Van Sam, Toc Tien and Viet Tu all gave it a score of 3 on a scale of 5. “In the part about Nhi, her way of remembering is like having her own code system. Those are things that are familiar to her, more about habits than brain training… Tien feels that 3 is the most objective score,” the female singer born in 1989 explained.
Judges Lai Van Sam and Viet Tu said that there were many better and more impressive performances, so giving the player a score of 3 was reasonable.
After the above evaluation, the scientific judge, Associate Professor - Doctor Tran Thanh Nam, reminded the challenger that the difficulty score of the challenge would be increased if Dan Nhi memorized it in a very short time and only looked at it once.
Not disappointing the judges' expectations, Dan Nhi memorized all the information on the 50 fighters' bodies in 4 minutes and 21 seconds. Toc Tien expressed surprise because she only needed 3 seconds for each person.
Then, she returned to the challenge chair and clearly read the pair of numbers and belt colors on each fighter. Sometimes, Dan Nhi hesitated a bit, but only for a moment, then continued to give the correct answers both forward and backward to the astonishment of MC Tran Thanh.
At first, the judges were skeptical about Nhi's ability. But when she completed the challenge, they all stood up from their seats, applauding Dan Nhi's amazing memory.
Toc Tien also increased the challenge by choosing any number and asking to read the belt color. Dan Nhi accepted the challenge without any worries. Of course, she made the female judge have no more doubts about her ability.
Journalist Lai Van Sam was also completely "convinced". He even wanted to change the given score, but the program's rules did not allow it.
Explaining how to remember, Dan Nhi said, formatting numbers into familiar images like number 73 is a buffalo to make it easier to remember.
Despite completing the challenge successfully, Dan Nhi could not advance to the next round. Judge Thanh Nam gave her a difficulty score of 6, multiplied by the previous 9 points, which was only 56, not enough to reach the minimum score of 80 to become a member of the Vietnam Super Brain Team. However, she received an English scholarship of 400 million VND from the program's sponsor.
More specially, Dan Nhi also received a much more meaningful gift in terms of spirit. That was meeting her mother after 1 year apart.
The moment she saw her mother coming onto the stage from the stands, Dan Nhi hugged her mother tightly, her eyes filled with tears. The image of mother and daughter choking back tears as they reunited made the atmosphere in the studio heavy, everyone was moved.
Ms. Nguyen Thi My, Dan Nhi's mother, said that she is currently working in construction in Vientiane (Laos). Each year, Dan Nhi's parents only return home once, and cannot take their daughter with them because they do not have the means to properly educate her.
It is known that Dan Nhi lives with her grandparents and uncle. Her grandparents raised her since she was 6 months old because her parents worked far away. Due to difficult economic conditions, Dan Nhi's parents went to Laos to work for about 15 years. During that time, Dan Nhi only met her parents 4 times, each time for about 10 minutes before her parents left again. Therefore, Dan Nhi does not have many memories of her parents.
According to her uncle, Nhi was a disadvantaged child, lacking the care and love of her parents, leading to her being emotionally "frozen", not crying or laughing much, and not asking for anything. Dan Nhi hopes to run a clothing business in the future, earning a lot of money so that her parents do not have to leave the country and the family can reunite.
