3-month-old baby girl in Vinh Phuc tests positive for nCoV

The Ministry of Health confirmed on the morning of February 11 that a 3-month-old baby in Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province, is the 15th case of nCoV infection in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Health determined that the virus transmission route for the baby was related to patient Nguyen Thi Du, 23 years old. Du was discharged from the hospital on the afternoon of February 10.

The girl was born on November 5, 2019, the granddaughter of the 42-year-old patient (the 10th positive case in Vietnam, infected when visiting Du's house).

The baby was taken by her mother to her grandmother's house from January 28 to January 31. Later, the grandmother was confirmed to be infected with nCoV, the baby was in a group of close contacts so was closely monitored and medically monitored.

On February 6, the baby showed symptoms of cough, runny nose and fever of unknown origin. The sample tested positive for nCoV on February 11. The baby's mother is still healthy.

Currently, the baby and mother are isolated at Quang Ha General Clinic of Binh Xuyen district, and their health condition is stable.

The baby is the 10th person in Vinh Phuc infected with the new strain of Corona virus, the 5th person infected domestically and all related to patient Nguyen Thi Du. Before the baby, there were 4 people infected by patient Du, including her mother, sister, cousin, and neighbor.

As of February 11, Vietnam has 15 people infected with acute respiratory infection caused by nCoV, 6 people have recovered. Vinh Phuc is the province with the most infected people, 3 people have been discharged from hospital, 7 people are being isolated and treated.

There are 43,100 people infected with the virus in the world, 1,013 people have died, and nearly 30 countries and territories have patients. Of which, China has 42,638 patients and 1,011 deaths.
