Closing of the Vietnam Veterans Association Congress
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duoc was elected Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2012-2017 term.
After 3 working days, on the morning of December 20, in Hanoi, the 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2012-2017 term officially closed.
At the closing session, the congress introduced the 5th Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association, consisting of 99 comrades; the Central Standing Committee of the Association, consisting of 23 comrades, and elected the Chairman and Vice Chairmen.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duoc - Hero of the Armed Forces, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Minister of National Defense was elected Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2012-2017 term.
Comrades Phung Khac Dang, Le Thanh Tam, Nguyen Van Dao, Nguyen Song Phi were elected as Vice Presidents.
The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2012-2017 term was introduced to the Congress.

After 3 working days, the 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association has successfully completed its assigned tasks.
The Congress discussed and unanimously approved important documents: Summary report of the 4th term (2007-2012), direction and tasks of the 5th term (2012-2017); supplemented and amended Association Charter.
The Congress also unanimously passed a Resolution honoring General Vo Nguyen Giap to continue as Honorary President of the Vietnam Veterans Association; passed a Letter to the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and a letter to fellow veterans and former soldiers nationwide.
The 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association demonstrated the strong determination of Vietnam Veterans to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th National Party Congress, promote the tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", and study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh.
The Resolution of the 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Veterans Association clearly stated that the Association's direction and tasks in the coming term are to continue to mobilize generations of veterans to promote the traditional nature of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", loyalty - solidarity - exemplary - innovation, building a clean - strong Association, worthy of being a reliable support for the Party Committee, government and people./.
