(Baonghean.vn) - After a working day, tonight, December 26, in Vinh City - Nghe An, the signing ceremony of the minutes of the 16th Summit of the three provinces of Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using Road 8 and Road 12 took place. Attending the ceremony was comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

On the basis of promoting the results achieved as in the minutes signed at the 15th Summit, especially in the fields of education and training, cultural exchange, trade and tourism, agriculture and investment attraction, at this Conference, 9 delegations of the 3 countries agreed to sign cooperation contents in the coming time.

Accordingly, the content of the agreement is: in the fields of education - training, culture - sports, science and technology, it will continue to promote cooperation and exchange in vocational training, foreign languages, university and postgraduate training between the provinces in the association; further promote cultural and artistic exchange activities, sports, transfer of science and technology in rural agricultural development; announce the festival organization plan of each province, speed up the construction of the cultural center of 9 provinces of 3 countries: Lac Xao - Kham Cot district - Boolykhamxay province of Lao PDR. For the fields of trade, investment and tourism, it will organize international fairs with the participation of the provinces in the association in the province hosting the next conference, continue to organize investment promotion delegations to the provinces, study the establishment of a Trade Council between 9 provinces, encourage and develop tourist routes connecting the provinces of the 3 countries.

In the field of transportation, the provinces of Laos and Thailand are requested to recommend their Governments to add Route 8 and Route 12 to the GMS-CBTA Agreement to enjoy preferential mechanisms; Suggest that the Governments of the three countries implement the "one stop, one check" model at the pairs of border gates at Friendship Bridge 3, Treo-Nam Phao Bridge, Cha Lo-Na Phau and allow right-hand drive vehicles to circulate in Vietnam and left-hand drive vehicles to circulate in the provinces of Thailand; Boolykhamxay Province and Bung Can Province speed up the construction of Friendship Bridge 5 across the Mekong River connecting the two provinces, along with a number of other recommendations. The Memorandum of Understanding also agreed on the Chairman, Secretary and preparations for the 17th Summit of the Association of Provinces of the three countries of Vietnam - Laos - Thailand to use Route 8 and Route 12.
