The BBC also spent nearly 100 million pounds (more than 130 million USD) on Rio 2016, nearly double that of 2012. Although he defeated his great rival Lin Dan (China) in the semi-finals, the world No. 1 missed out on the gold medal when he lost to Chen Long in the final.
