(Baonghean.vn)- The Formosa Super Project has an investment capital of up to 28 billion USD, a total area of more than 3,300 hectares, including sea surface area (Son Duong port).
Despite being greatly affected by the global economic downturn, with determination and synchronous solutions in directing and operating, reforming administrative procedures, and issuing policies and mechanisms to support investors, Ha Tinh has maintained good investment attraction activities and is always in the top of the country. In which, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) ranks 6th nationwide.
The Son Duong Iron and Steel Complex and Deep-water Port Complex super project is the largest FDI project in Vietnam (to date) invested by Formosa Group (Taiwan) in Ky Anh district (Ha Tinh). According to Formosa Group's commitment, phase 1 of the project will be invested with 7.9 billion USD, with a capacity of more than 7.5 million tons of iron and steel per year and a cargo handling capacity of 30 million tons/year through Son Duong port. Phase 2 will increase the capacity of this iron and steel complex to 22.5 million tons/year, with an investment capital of up to 28 billion USD.

The project has a total area of over 3,300 hectares, including the sea area (Son Duong port), the land lease period is 70 years. To serve the super project, Ha Tinh had to compensate and clear nearly 2,000 hectares of land, with nearly 3,000 households in 9 communes of Nam Ky Anh region. From National Highway 1A, there is a dedicated road leading straight to the Super Project, always bustling with all kinds of vehicles and machinery. |
The Project Management Office is built magnificently right at the entrance. |
The "boulevards" running across the super project are vehicles carrying workers and managers moving around in a hurry. |
Special construction materials are gathered at the foot of the construction site. |
The goal of the super project is to build a steel factory with a closed production line and the largest deep-water port in Southeast Asia, with a capacity of 22 million tons of steel/year and 1,500 MW of thermal power. |
Pipelines appear everywhere in the construction site, reminding us of international gas and oil pipeline projects in the West. |
Huge, modern machine parts are being assembled. |

Every day, at the construction site of this "super project" there are tens of thousands of engineers and workers of 28 different nationalities, working on 28 packages, mainly constructing blast furnaces I and II (steel furnaces) of the iron and steel plant project. |
Including unskilled workers from Nghe An and Ha Tinh participating in some simple stages. |
Because the construction works are on a large area, we have to use shuttle buses to take workers to the foot of the construction site. |
There are places where you can only see motorbikes running back and forth like robots. |

When completed, the project will be self-sufficient in electricity, water, gas... In the photo: Transformers at the thermal power plant area have been completely assembled. |

The investor committed to mobilizing maximum resources, striving to complete 3 blast furnaces with a capacity of 10.5 million tons of steel/year by 2015, have 13 wharves in operation and by 2017 will complete 32 wharves, meeting the requirements for transporting and exporting finished products of this iron and steel factory. |
To speed up the project progress, field operations areas were set up at the foot of the construction site. |

A corner of the "city" with high-rise buildings is the residence of foreign engineers and workers located within the project campus. |
