(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, September 10, patient Tran Thi An, who had a tumor weighing more than 10 kg (Nghe An Electronic Newspaper reported on September 6), had surgery to remove the tumor by doctors at Nghe An Oncology Hospital. The surgery was performed at 8:30 a.m., led by specialist 2 Dr. Dau Huy Hoan - Head of the Department of Surgery, Deputy Director of the Hospital.

Patient Tran Thi An (born in 1972, from Hamlet 4, Dien Ky Commune, Dien Chau) has had a tumor in her back since she was a child. For about 15 years now, the tumor has been getting bigger and bigger, covering her entire back and buttocks, but Ms. An has never gone to the hospital for a check-up because her family's circumstances are too difficult and she herself is illiterate.

Prepare for surgery

Doctor Dau Huy Hoan, who directly examined, monitored and operated on Ms. An, said: Ms. An's tumor was determined to be a neurodermal tumor located from the 1st lumbar spine to the coccyx and extending to both sides of the ribs, hanging down. Previously, Doctor Hoan had operated on a similar patient from Nam Dan, but the tumor was half the size of Ms. An's. This tumor is large, the surgery will be quite complicated. Therefore, the surgery is expected to last 4 - 5 hours.

Proceed with gradual removal of the tumor

Thanks to Nghe An Newspaper and some other newspapers reporting promptly, Ms. An's situation has been known and helped by many people. Even before the surgery was performed, there were still people coming to the Oncology Hospital to help her.

Standing in front of the operating room were many neighbors, relatives, distant relatives of Ms. An and concerned people. Especially, Tran Anh Hoang (Ms. An's adopted son, this year in grade 7, Dien Ky Secondary School, Dien Chau) asked for leave from school to visit his mother, waiting for her surgery. The face of the obedient, studious and loving boy showed a worried look...

Nghe An Electronic Newspaper will continue to report on this surgery.
