It is known that this defect has existed since the baby was born, however, due to the family's circumstances, the parents work far away, the baby lives with the grandmother so there is no opportunity to go to the doctor. Until now, when the baby is about to enter school age, afraid of feeling inferior to friends, the grandmother is determined to take the baby to the hospital with the hope that the doctors can help the baby regain a hand like other children.
After the doctors examined, performed the necessary clinical tests and consulted, they assessed the condition of the child's left hand's fingers 2, 3, 4, and 5 as being fused together and smaller than the right hand. The fingers were only fused with soft tissue, not bone.
The doctors decided to proceed with the operation.surgeryseparate all 4 fingers in one go. This is a very complicated finger separation surgery, which can easily leave many dangerous complications, not to mention the risks after surgery such as: skin graft necrosis, post-operative finger necrosis, nerve damage to the fingers, which can cause the child's fingers to lose feeling.
Determined to perform surgery to separate the fused fingers to help the child maintain hand function while ensuring aesthetics, on April 12, the surgery was successful after 4 hours with the coordination of doctors from the Department of Orthopedics - Burns and Anesthesia.
After surgery, baby T. was cared for and had his bandages changed twice. He was discharged after 7 days of treatment and had a check-up once a week. By the second check-up, all 4 fingers had fully recovered and were pink.
