At 37 weeks of pregnancy, the mother was scheduled for a cesarean section. The obstetrician determined that this was an extremely critical condition. Ultrasound and MRI results showed that the patient had central placenta previa, Percreta type - the most severe type.
A team of doctors in related departments such as Obstetrics, Anesthesia, Surgical Resuscitation, Neonatology, Laboratory, and Diagnostic Imaging consulted to choose the best treatment for mother and baby.
Dr. Tran Quang Hanh said: “The pregnant woman D. had central placenta previa. The thickest part of the placenta was in the cervix, invading the cervical canal and bladder, blood vessels proliferated, and the uterus was stuck to the abdominal wall. The doctors skillfully separated and removed the adhesions to avoid heavy bleeding. After that, we made an incision in the uterine muscle and removed the fetus. The baby boy weighed 2,800g and was born safely.

Dr. Tran Quang Hanh further recommends: For pregnant women, it is necessary to go to medical facilities with an Obstetrics department for regular check-ups, early check-ups in the first trimester and strictly follow the doctor's advice and instructions to detect high-risk pregnancies such as cesarean section pregnancies, and have timely treatment to avoid placenta accreta later.
The risk of placenta accreta is common in pregnant women with: Placenta previa, a history of previous uterine surgery (cesarean section, fibroid removal surgery, etc.), pregnancy over 35 years old, multiple abortions, etc. Placenta accreta will cause risks of: bleeding after birth, after surgery, placental spines piercing the uterine muscle causing perforation, uterine rupture, piercing surrounding organs such as the bladder, intestines, etc. There is a risk of having to remove the uterus to stop the bleeding as well as affecting life./.
