Hanoi Heart Hospital transfers open heart surgery techniques to Nghe An General Hospital
(Baonghean.vn)- On September 28, Nghe An General Hospital held a ceremony to transfer open heart surgery and cardiovascular intervention techniques from Hanoi Heart Hospital to Nghe An General Hospital.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Dr. Bui Dinh Long, Director of Nghe An Department of Health; representatives of Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh Departments of Health and leaders of Nghe An General Hospital, Hanoi Heart Hospital and leading experts in cardiovascular medicine in Vietnam.

Nghe An is a large, populous province with a high and rapidly increasing rate of cardiovascular disease. Faced with this situation, Nghe An General Hospital has determined to focus on developing a complete Cardiology department with a full range of specialties: Internal cardiology, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular surgery. Since 3 years ago, Hanoi Heart Hospital has gradually begun to transfer open heart surgery and cardiovascular intervention techniques to Nghe An General Hospital.

Up to now, Nghe An General Hospital has performed 195 open heart surgeries. The doctors' skills have become more solid, in addition to simple cardiovascular diseases, surgical procedures are more diverse and complex such as: mitral valve replacement combined with aortic valve replacement, complete repair of Fallot IV disease...
Regarding coronary artery intervention techniques, up to now, Nghe An General Hospital has routinely performed percutaneous coronary angiography and intervention, congenital heart intervention, closure of ductus arteriosus, atrial septal defect, and permanent pacemaker implantation. The hospital has performed angiography and intervention on about 2,500 coronary artery cases, including 850 cardiovascular interventions; more than 100 congenital heart interventions such as closure of atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, pulmonary valve valvuloplasty; and nearly 100 temporary and permanent pacemaker implantations.

On this occasion, Nghe An Province awarded certificates of merit to individuals and collectives with outstanding achievements in the technology transfer process.
