Beyonce receives 2016 Fashion Icon award

Surpassing Kim 'super butt', Beyonce was named with the Fashion Icon of the Year award 2016.

After a period of absence, Beyonce suddenly appeared at the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards, held in New York City, USA, and took home the Fashion Icon of the Year award - one of the most prestigious awards for an individual.

Beyonce was joined by her husband Jay Z, daughter Blue Ivy and her mother Tina Knowles at the New York fashion event. Accepting the award, the "Sorry" singer looked at her daughter and said, "I feel the love that the audience has for me and I feel very proud. I don't know how to say it, but fashion is a part of my life. Ever since I was born, I've been wearing beautiful 'outfits' because my grandmother was a true seamstress.

Although my grandparents did not have enough money to pay for my mother's school fees, in return, she often sewed clothes for priests, nuns and even school uniforms as an exchange. Later, she passed on the sewing profession to my mother and taught her how to sew beautifully.

"So, what I'm saying now is that I want to prove to everyone that fashion has been a part of my life since I was a child. Therefore, I feel so happy to win this prestigious award" - Beyonce affirmed.
