Arrested for brokering kidney purchase for 450 million VND
Dong and Hung were detained by the police on charges of buying and selling human body parts.
Arrested on the afternoon of August 10, Dong confessed that he often went on Facebook to find people who wanted to sell their kidneys and then agreed to buy them for 240 million VND, including all expenses for food, accommodation, and testing.
When the kidney seller agreed, he took him to live at a boarding house in Lien Ninh commune, Thanh Tri district and assigned Hung to pick him up and take care of him. At the same time, Dong looked for someone in need of a kidney transplant, saying he could "help" for 450 million VND per kidney.
Thuong Tin District Police have not yet announced how many kidney trafficking cases Dong's group has carried out because the case is still under investigation.

Hanoi police said the act of buying or selling kidneys or other human body parts is against the law. Anyone in need of a kidney transplant should go to reputable hospitals for advice.
Three months ago, Hoan Kiem District Police (Hanoi) dismantled a kidney trafficking ring run by Pham Van Luong (29 years old).
