On August 8, Thai Binh Provincial Police announced that they had initiated a criminal case and prosecuted Nhu Thanh Tan (born in 1999, residing in Dan Chu Commune, Hung Ha District, Thai Binh Province) for the crime of "Organizing and brokering for others to flee abroad or stay abroad illegally."

By using his Facebook account to post articles with pictures related to the job Tan was doing, "light work, high salary", since December 2021, the defendant has organized for 4 citizens inside and outside the province to illegally exit the country, through the border area of ​​​​Long An province to Cambodia to work illegally.

Tan advertised the job as only working on computers, with a monthly salary of 700 USD to 1500 USD, with the employer providing food, accommodation, and travel expenses to Cambodia, and even bonuses for good performance. However, after following Tan to Cambodia, the victims were recruited to work at establishments that organized fraudulent activities such as online gambling, virtual currency trading... on the internet and were forced to work 12-16 hours a day.

In addition, they were not allowed to leave the facility, were sold to other employers or forced to call their families and relatives in Vietnam to pay a ransom to return home, ranging from 3,000 USD to 30,000 USD. Many cases of escape without paying the ransom were caught again, beaten, abused, and sold to other facilities.

The case is continuing to be investigated and clarified by the Security Investigation Agency, Thai Binh Provincial Police according to the provisions of law.
