Tragedy of family accident on wedding bus

However, on the way from Nghe An to Hanoi to attend their daughter's wedding, the car carrying Mr. Quang - Mrs. Thuy and their siblings had an accident, 7 family members, the driver and the car owner all died. The wedding day suddenly became a day of great mourning.

Late at night, we followed the small road from Anh Son town, crossed the suspension bridge and turned to Vinh Son commune - Anh Son district. It was dark, the wind blew strongly, the rocky road became deep and dark. The flickering lights on both sides of the houses made the atmosphere even more gloomy and depressing. The news of the tragic traffic accident in Thanh Hoa that killed 9 citizens of Anh Son district shocked the people of the mountainous region. Especially when 7 of them were siblings of the same family: Mr. Duong Van Quang, hamlet 9, Vinh Son commune, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Mr. Quang's wife, Mrs. Duong Thi Phung, Mr. Quang's sister, Mr. Duong Van Trung, Mr. Quang's younger brother, Duong Van Son's nephew, Mr. Quang's nephew, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ky, Mrs. Thuy's older brother and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Mrs. Thuy's younger sister. Two other unfortunate people who also died on the fateful trip were Vo Duc Vinh (owner of the 16-seat car) and Nguyen Huu Duyen (Vinh's relative, a driver).

Relatives and neighbors came to Mr. Quang and Mrs. Thuy's family to take care of the funeral.

Asking for directions to Hamlet 9, Vinh Son Commune where Mr. Quang's family lives, we received enthusiastic answers along with condolences and sympathy from the people of Vinh Son Commune. Along the way, the hamlet's loudspeaker announced the sad news and called on the people in the hamlet to come and take care of the funeral for the families in the hamlet, making us even more heartbroken. Near the middle of Hamlet 9 are 3 houses next to each other of Mr. Duong Van Quang, Mr. Duong Van Trung and his nephew Duong Van Son.

Mr. Quang has 2 children, the son works in Ho Chi Minh City, the daughter Duong Thi Minh works for a rolling door company in Hanoi. Here, Ms. Minh fell in love with a co-worker, from Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province. After a period of dating, the young couple was married by both families. After the wedding ceremony in his hometown, Mr. Quang and his relatives rented a 16-seat tourist car from Mr. Vo Duc Vinh, from Lang Son Commune, to go to Hanoi to attend the wedding.

According to the plan, on the evening of January 24, the bus would take everyone to Hanoi, rest and the next morning, they would take the bride to Quang Ninh. Unexpectedly, when they reached Thanh Hoa province, a tragic accident occurred. Mr. Quang and Mrs. Thuy suddenly died after the accident, the son had not returned yet, the daughter was in Hanoi waiting for everyone to attend the wedding. The house, which was already crowded, was now even more empty. The neighbors, without telling each other, came together to pack up and prepare for the funeral that night. "Poor thing, the wedding day suddenly became a day of great mourning. All the brothers went. It's so painful," the village chief of hamlet 9, Vinh Son commune, sighed sadly.

Ms. Le Thi Cam, Mr. Son's wife, was heartbroken to receive the news that her husband had passed away in an accident.

About ten meters from Mr. Quang's house is the family of his younger brother, Duong Van Trung. This year, 47 years old, Trung also has 2 children. On the bus to the North to attend a wedding, both Trung and his daughter Duong Thi Anh were in an accident. Trung died, his daughter was injured and is being treated in Thanh Hoa. Her son is working far away, and Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, Trung's wife, had to suppress her grief and stand up to take care of her husband's funeral.

In the same alley as Trung’s family is Duong Van Son. Son is the nephew of Quang and Trung, and also the eldest grandson of the Duong family. In the morning, while his wife was working in the forest, Son left his two young children with their grandmother at home to take care of and then called his wife to inform her that he was going to a wedding. “When I left, I told you to cook dinner early for the children and buy gifts when I got back. Unexpectedly…”, Le Thi Cam, Son’s wife, cried and fainted, unable to continue speaking.

Relatives of Mr. Duong Van Trung came to offer condolences to the family.

The pain of Mr. Quang and Mrs. Thuy's extended family in the tragic accident cannot be fully described because 7 out of 9 people who died were siblings. Mr. Quang passed away with 2 younger siblings, 1 nephew, Mrs. Thuy also died with 2 younger siblings. Mr. Le Trong Vinh, head of Hamlet 9, Vinh Son Commune, sighed in dismay that Vinh Son Commune had never suffered so many deaths at once.

All 9 people who died in the tragic accident in Thanh Hoa were from Anh Son district. In addition to the 7 people in Mr. Quang and Mrs. Thuy's family, there was also Mr. Vo Duc Vinh, from Lang Son commune, currently living in hamlet 7, Khai Son commune. Mr. Vinh was the owner of the 16-seat car, the other person was Mr. Nguyen Huu Duyen, hired by Mr. Vinh as a driver. It is known that the tourist car was recently bought by Mr. Minh, specializing in taking contracts to transport passengers to various places.

After the accident, a working delegation of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee led by Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of Nghe An Department of Transport, leaders of Anh Son district and Vinh Son commune went to Thanh Hoa to encourage and visit the families of the victims, and at the same time coordinate with the functional agencies of Thanh Hoa province to resolve the incident.

According to plan, on January 25, the bodies of the 9 victims will be brought back to their hometown in Anh Son district for burial.
