Family tragedy after father kills daughter
(Baonghean.vn) - Although devoted to his daughter, the young child had inappropriate words towards his parents. In a fit of anger and alcohol, Le Dinh Ngoc took the lives of his 17-year-old daughter and 19-year-old lover. Behind the case is a heartbreaking, tragic story of a family.
The fateful meal
Perhaps, there are few trials that have caused as much heartache as the trial of defendant Le Dinh Ngoc (born in 1980), residing in Bai Son commune, Do Luong district, for the crime of "Murder". Because this case had two victims, Ngoc's biological son and his daughter's lover. The "father kills son" case that occurred in early July 2022 has shaken the once peaceful and quiet village.
At the first instance trial, the indictment announced by the representative of the prosecutor's office once again recalled the tragedy of Le Dinh Ngoc's family. Accordingly, on the evening of July 4, 2022, Le Dinh Ngoc's family organized a dinner inviting relatives to attend. That dinner included daughter Le Tam N. (born in 2005) and her boyfriend Ho Quoc A. (born in 2004, residing in Khanh Son commune, Nam Dan district).
During the meal, Ngoc talked about Tam N. and Quoc A. preparing to apply for jobs and then got into an argument with their daughter and her boyfriend. Seeing N. being rude and talking back to her, Ngoc was about to slap her but was stopped by everyone. Afterwards, Quoc A. took N. away from home on his motorbike.

At around 9pm that same day, when everyone had left, Ngoc rode her motorbike to find her daughter and her boyfriend to talk. A moment later, Ngoc discovered that her daughter and her boyfriend had run away to a house by the roadside. Ngoc opened the motorbike trunk, took out a knife and chased after them. This man kicked the door open, stabbed Quoc A. once in the chest and slashed his daughter many times.
Quoc A. ran to a nearby house and collapsed. Tam N. fell while running away and received several more stabs from her father. As soon as she attacked her son, Ngoc said: “Don’t be a human in the next life, my son. If I kill you, I will also come back and commit suicide.”
After committing the crime, Ngoc called his relatives and then drank pesticide to commit suicide. Immediately afterwards, people took all three to the hospital for treatment. However, due to severe injuries, Le Tam N. and Ho Quoc A. died, while Ngoc is out of danger.
At the first instance trial, before presenting his testimony, defendant Ngoc apologized to the victim Quoc A.'s family and the entire defendant's family. Ngoc admitted all of his criminal acts as charged in the indictment and expressed remorse, although it was late.
Regarding the reason for taking the lives of the two victims, the defendant said that during the meal that day, his daughter spoke rudely, and Quoc A. said he would call "social people" to deal with Ngoc when she tried to slap her daughter, which made the defendant angry. Later, while looking for her daughter, she saw Tam N. running away while using the phone, Ngoc thought her daughter was calling "social people" to deal with her. Angry, combined with the alcohol in her body, the defendant could not control his actions.
At the trial, the defendant said that his sudden behavior was due to the accumulated frustration over the past several months because his daughter often ran away from home and borrowed money, forcing Ngoc and his wife to pay the debt for her. The defendant stated that he had been upset many times when his daughter did not listen to her parents.

Tragedy of a family
On the day of the trial, Ms. Nguyen Thi Th. (born in 1986 - the defendant's wife) brought her three young children to court. At this trial, she attended as both the legal representative of the victim Le Tam N. and a relative of the defendant. Because her three children were still young, she had to ask a relative to look after them so she could enter the courtroom.
As the legal representative of the victim, Ms. Th. was invited by the presiding judge to answer a number of questions related to the case as well as the information provided by the defendant Ngoc at the trial. During the process of answering the questions of the Trial Panel, the woman burst into tears and admitted part of her fault “for not being able to raise her child”.
This woman admitted that she was helpless when her eldest daughter entered the age of being stubborn and difficult to manage. When she discovered that her daughter was hanging out with bad friends and frequently skipping school, she tried every way to get her daughter back but failed. The mother admitted that her daughter had repeatedly deceived her parents and skipped school.

Knowing that her daughter was at a rebellious age, she did not dare to think that her daughter was bold enough to borrow money to spend. Only when people asked for the debt did the couple panic. Although angry with her daughter, the couple had to grit their teeth and pay her debt. After many times of paying the debt, the couple had to shamefully tell their acquaintances not to lend their daughter money. Before the heartbreaking incident happened, Th. had often hidden money from her husband to send to her daughter every time N. contacted her mother. The mother said she did not know where her daughter was and could not ask, but in court, she admitted that she was not determined to find her daughter.
Regarding their daughter's love affair, the couple did not support it but also knew they could not stop it. Then, her husband "gave in", told the two of them to return to their hometown, work as workers for a company near home, and wait until they were old enough to get married. But then, that fateful meal pushed her family into tragedy. Her child died, her husband went to jail, and she was the one who suffered the most. In court, she begged Quoc A.'s parents and the jury to give her husband a chance to make amends, even though she knew it was unfair to the victim's parents.
Attending the trial as legal representatives for the victim Quoc A., the victim's parents requested compensation of 9 billion VND and maximum criminal punishment for the defendant.
In the presence of the victim's representative, the defendant apologized to the family. Belated remorse was evident on the defendant's face.
The court determined that the case was of an especially serious nature, the defendant’s criminal acts were particularly dangerous, of a hooligan nature, directly taking the lives of two people, including the defendant’s child. Therefore, the first instance panel sentenced defendant Le Dinh Ngoc to death.
Receiving the maximum sentence, defendant Ngoc burst into tears as he was escorted away by the police. As he walked, he turned back to look at his relatives. Behind him, the woman who was both his relative and the victim's representative also burst into tears in helplessness.
People often say "a fierce tiger does not eat its own cubs", but the defendant attacked his own flesh and blood, and now the tears of regret are too late as he has to pay a heavy price for his mistake.
