(Baonghean) - At the ceremony to honor outstanding young teachers in the province organized by the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee in November, Mr. Tran Ba Hai, a teacher at Quy Hop 1 High School, left a strong impression with the achievement of 100% of his homeroom students passing the university entrance exam. However, he is always humble when talking about his achievements.
In the 2014 university entrance exam, class 12A of Quy Hop 1 High School was the only highland class in the country with 100% of students passing the university entrance exam, of which 80% scored 25 - 26 points or higher. When talking about this commendable achievement, Mr. Tran Ba Hai, the class's homeroom teacher, shared: "I think the secret lies in the students, they are the factors that inspire me and the teachers at the school to be creative and best impart the knowledge we have."

In recent years, in addition to the students' efforts, Mr. Hai and the school's teaching staff have strengthened their guidance in honing their learning methods from the early days of grade 10, while also providing guidance in choosing a career to pursue. He does not require students to study too late at night or with too much work. In each class, he cleverly divides students into groups according to each subject, encouraging students with good academic performance to support weaker students. Although he divides, he does not make students who are quite arrogant and subjective, or make weak students self-conscious, but he cleverly lets these students organize study groups together, and during the learning process, some students will understand faster and guide others who have not yet grasped the material. "Being guided by your friends will help students who are slow to understand "catch up" with new lessons and new knowledge. "Learning from a teacher is not as good as learning from friends" is the point" - Mr. Hai confided.
In addition, when reviewing or in tests, the teacher always has average, good and difficult tests. By doing so, average students will not have to struggle with the test, good students cannot be subjective and good students cannot submit their test papers in advance, causing psychological problems for the remaining students. The teacher shared on the forum on the day he was honored as an Outstanding Teacher by the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee: "I do not praise my students' strengths too much, but I also do not criticize their weaknesses." Because according to the teacher, some good students often have a subjective mentality of submitting their test papers an hour before the scheduled time, but the results are not as expected.
Mr. Hai shared: “I often tell students that when taking university entrance exams, schools do not send notices with notes saying “this test was done ahead of time so extra points will be added”, but only mark the correct answers. Because in reality, there are many students in the class who are very good at studying but in the provincial excellent student exams only won the Encouragement Prize in Math while they could have achieved higher results, but also due to subjective psychology, finishing the test quickly, not checking carefully”. Learning from that experience, he always trains students to be careful, because it is never redundant in exams, in study as well as in life.
Graduated in 2002 and teaching Mathematics, Mr. Hai is considered by students in this mountainous area as a friend, an older brother, because he is always ready to be friends, share with them in difficult times, troubles in life. In his class, there are 2 ethnic minority students, living far from school. Knowing that they lack both affection and learning conditions, he always finds ways to share so that they can study and participate in superficial activities like their classmates. Having a talent for football, he is always the leader of the school, promoting the sports movement in the school and class. His class has 4 teams, but on holidays, they organize round-robin football tournaments and the prizes are cups of sugarcane juice. Practicing life skills is also the criterion of teachers and students of class 12A. Learning while playing, playing to learn more effectively, that is also the secret for 40/40 students of class 12A to get high scores in the 2014 university entrance exam.
Once a student of the Math class at Vinh University, with the dream of becoming a mechanical engineer, Mr. Tran Ba Hai chose to pursue a career in teaching. And it is this career that he is honored for. "It was also my fate to choose this career and if I had to choose again, I would still choose teaching" - Mr. Hai confided.
