Ms. Truong's secret to attracting members in religious areas
(Baonghean.vn) - Ms. Nguyen Thi Truong - Head of the Women's Association of Village 7, Thach Son Commune, Anh Son District is not only enthusiastic and dedicated to the association's work, but she is also one of the advanced examples of the "skillful mass mobilization" movement in the locality.
In 2010, she was elected by the women's association members as the president of the women's association in village 7, a village with 92% of the population following Catholicism. She encountered many difficulties because very few women in the village participated in association activities.

Grasping that situation, Ms. Truong has been creative in the way of propagating and mobilizing Catholic women to join the association. Ms. Truong shared: To attract members, first of all, we must let women see the benefits of joining the association such as access to capital, transfer of scientific and technical technology into production, and help when facing difficulties and misfortunes.
In addition, she enlisted the support and assistance of the parish priest in terms of venue for activities, propaganda content, and movement building. Thanks to that, the Women's Association of Village 7 currently has 210 members, accounting for more than 95% of the women in the entire village and is the village with the largest number of members participating in activities in the commune.
With the motto of "no discrimination, no separation", Ms. Truong always organizes and implements all movements launched by the superior association such as: mobilizing women to donate land, participate in building rural roads; supporting women to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty; building "5 no, 3 clean families", thereby creating solidarity and attracting women to participate in activities.

Every month on the 1st, 15th, and 30th, the village women's association mobilizes women to collect garbage and clean village roads and alleys. In the movement of donating land for road construction, Ms. Truong's family took the lead in donating more than 100m2 land to expand roads as an example for many members to follow, creating a vibrant movement.
Identifying economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction as a key task, in her role as branch president, Ms. Truong actively exploited capital from the Social Policy Bank with an amount of 1.6 billion VND for 80 members to borrow for production development.
She also called on members to establish a savings group of the branch, each member contributes 5,000 VND/person/month to help women in difficult circumstances, from the money raised in 2015, the branch helped 3 women in the branch buy animal feed and breeding animals to improve their lives. Thanks to that, up to now, the whole village has 6 models of raising from 20-100 pigs for an annual income of about 100 million VND.

Not only doing well in association work, Ms. Nguyen Thi Truong is also one of the typical examples of family economic development and raising good children. In 2011, realizing that her garden was spacious, she built a barn to raise super lean pigs; fattened cows and chickens. At the peak, her family's herd had up to 100 pigs. Each year, she sold 4 batches. Thanks to applying the correct technical processes in animal husbandry, her income became more and more stable, her life was increasingly improved. After deducting expenses, each year she earned a profit of over 100 million VND.
After more than 5 years of working for the Association, thanks to doing a good job in "mass mobilization", the greatest reward for Ms. Truong's efforts is the solidarity, mutual support and care of the female members of the association, both lay and teachers, in the village, which has greatly contributed to the development of the association branch, leading in all movements of the commune.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dong - President of the Women's Union of Thach Son commune said: In recent years, all aspects of life in village 7 have improved, partly due to the contribution of Ms. Nguyen Thi Truong. From a village with over 22% poverty rate in 2012, it has now decreased to 13%, one of the villages with the lowest poverty rate in Thach Son commune. The material life of members has improved, along with the women's movement developing in both quantity and quality, attracting more and more women to participate in union activities. |
