Provincial Party Secretary calls for support to help the poor celebrate Tet

(Baonghean) - Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee has just issued a letter calling for support and help for the poor to celebrate the Lunar New Year 2017:

Dear:Party committees, authorities, mass organizations; businesses, entrepreneurs, cadres and party members.

In recent years, Nghe An province has paid special attention to hunger eradication and poverty reduction, considering it one of the most important tasks. With the attention of Party committees, authorities, agencies, units, especially the response and companionship of businesses and philanthropists, the poverty rate has decreased sharply, from 12.1% in 2015 to 9.5% in 2016.

However, the whole province still has 74,747 poor households, including many unfortunate lives, in dire need of the society's help. The help of agencies, units, business community and philanthropists in recent times has demonstrated the nation's morality of mutual love and mutual assistance.

As the Year of the Rooster is coming, we hope that the poor will enjoy the joy of Tet like everyone else. We hope and call for support and assistance from agencies, businesses and philanthropists to help the poor enjoy the spring, celebrate Tet, and overcome difficulties in life.

Agencies, units, organizations, individuals, business communities and philanthropists who have the means are welcome to directly support poor households or through the Fatherland Front at all levels. The Provincial Fatherland Front will coordinate with the Provincial Radio and Television Station to organize a live television program "Tet for the Poor" to receive all support and assistance for the poor in the whole province. Agencies and units receiving assistance for poor communes should proactively visit, share, and give gifts to the poor before December 10, 2016 (lunar calendar) and implement the plan to support poor communes from the beginning of the year.

We sincerely thank and look forward to receiving positive responses from agencies, units, the business community, philanthropists, comrades and fellow countrymen.
