Being chased, the 'dog thief' drove his motorbike straight into the police force and used a homemade crossbow to shoot and injure a police officer.

On the afternoon of September 30, Tan Phu Trung Commune Police, Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City announced that they had handed over Nguyen Tan Dat (21 years old) and Nguyen Van Tot (24 years old, both residing in Hoc Mon District) to Cu Chi District Police to continue investigating the acts of property theft and resisting law enforcement officers.
According to the police, at around 5am on September 29, Dat called and drove to pick up Tot to go steal dogs to sell for money.
With electric shock devices and homemade crossbows prepared by Tot, the two set off from Thoi Tam Thon commune (Hoc Mon district) towards Cu Chi district to steal dogs.
After a while of walking around the area, Dat drove Tot to Ho Van Tang Street (Tan Thanh Dong Commune, Cu Chi District) and discovered a black-haired dog standing on the side of the road. Tot used a homemade crossbow connected to a battery to shoot the dog dead and got out of the car to put the dog in a bag.

Similarly, the two used a crossbow to shoot and kill a golden retriever on Ho Van Tang Street. Then, when they reached Tran Thi Cam Street (Xom Dong Hamlet, Tan Phu Trung Commune), they were discovered by the patrol force of Tan Phu Trung Commune Police.
Being chased, Dat drove straight into the police force, causing both of them to fall onto the road. Tot used a homemade crossbow to shoot at the chasing force and hit Tran Quang Dung (27 years old, police officer of Giong Sao hamlet, Tan Phu Trung commune). Dung was injured and was taken to the hospital by people for emergency treatment. The two dog thieves were caught with the evidence and taken to the Tan Phu Trung commune police station.
Mr. Dung is currently continuing treatment at the hospital due to a crossbow bolt that pierced the thumb of his left hand.
