Sovereignty stele in Truong Sa recognized as National Monument

According to the Department of Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just signed a decision to recognize the sovereignty stele cluster on Song Tu Tay island (Song Tu Tay commune) and Nam Yet island (Sinh Ton island commune), belonging to Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province as a national historical relic.

The sovereignty stele on Nam Yet and Song Tu Tay islands (built in 1956) was recognized as a national monument.

The above sovereignty steles were established on Song Tu Tay Island and Nam Yet Island since 1956; and were ranked as provincial-level relics in 2011. These are relics and evidence of important value in affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over Truong Sa archipelago.

Previously, in May 2014, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also decided to recognize the historical relic "Ship without number" - C235 (at Hon Heo war zone, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Hoa) as a national historical and cultural relic. This raised the total number of national historical and cultural relics in Khanh Hoa province to 15 relics.
