(Baonghean.vn)- The issue of the Vietnam-China border and the issue of sovereignty over seas and islands continued to be "hot" on the Geography exam. After 180 minutes of taking the exam, many candidates confidently said that the exam was not difficult.

Geography is an optional subject. Besides students who want to take the university entrance exam for majors in group C, there are also some other students who choose this subject to consider their graduation score. Therefore, at the examination sites in Vinh, the number of candidates has decreased significantly compared to previous days.

Các điểm thi hôm nay vắng hơn những ngày trước vì nhiều em không chọn môn Địa lý để thi.
The exam sites today are less crowded than previous days because many students did not choose Geography to take the exam.

At 10:30 a.m., at the exam site of the University of Electricity, Nghe An campus in Hung Loc commune, Vinh city, a number of female candidates walked out of the exam room with bright smiles. In a relaxed mood, a candidate named Lan said while talking to her mother that the Geography exam was not difficult. Lan was confident of getting 7 points or more.

The content of this year's Geography exam is notable for the issue of the Vietnam-China border with the question: Based on pages 4-5 and page 30 of the Vietnam Geography Atlas, identify the provinces of Vietnam that share a land border with China. "This is an easy question, many candidates do not need to look at the map in the Atlas to be able to name the 7 provinces including Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Dien Bien", said a candidate from Dang Thuc Hua High School, Thanh Chuong District.

Candidates discuss with their family about the content of the Geography exam.

Student Luong Van Hoi, Quy Hop High School said that the exam was quite easy, questions 1 and 2 were theoretical questions close to the textbook program, suitable for the level of candidates with average academic ability who only wish to apply for graduation. The practical part required candidates to develop their ability to draw charts, this part won 3 points. This is considered the part that "recovered" points for candidates. In the practical part of drawing charts, I did well because I had mastered the types of charts, how to identify the type of charts through the data table. I finished the test early and was quite satisfied with the result, I would have scored 7-8 points myself".

Candidates and parents were happy because the Geography exam was not difficult.

However, according to many candidates, this year's Geography exam has question 4 which is considered the "key" question to classify candidates. The second part of this question states: "Prove that our country has favorable natural conditions to develop marine economic sectors. Explain why the exploitation of marine and island resources has strategic significance in the process of economic development and national defense". According to candidate Dang Thi Le - Nam Dan 2 High School, the most interesting point of this year's Geography exam lies in this question. With an open-ended topic, it is quite interesting and less heavy on textbook knowledge, so it is interesting for candidates to express their understanding and personal opinions about their homeland's sea and islands".

Nhiều thí sinh cho biết, chỉ cần những kiến thức rất cơ bản và dựa vào Atlats cũng có thể có được 5 điểm để đậu tốt nghiệp.
Many candidates said that with just very basic knowledge and based on Atlas, they can get 5 points to pass the graduation exam.

In the Geography exam, many candidates had the advantage of bringing Atlases into the exam room. Hoang Thi Anh - Dien Chau 2 High School shared, "I am in block D and chose Geography for graduation. I feel quite comfortable doing the test with the support of Atlases because if I know how to "read" Atlases, I will definitely get 2 points in question 2. Completing the test well makes me feel quite confident and mentally prepare better for the next exam this afternoon.

Commenting on the Geography exam, teacher Nguyen Thi Yen, Huynh Thuc Khang High School, said that this exam met the criteria of being scientific, practical, topical, but also highly differentiated. The exam is suitable for both groups of candidates. The beauty of the exam lies in question 4, which not only talks about the sea and islands but also requires assessing the value of the sea and islands, helping students become more aware of the issue of Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty.
