The super VIP license plate has appeared, it is 14A-888.88 of Quang Ninh province. This license plate with five 8s will be on sale from 10:00-10:25 am.

This is also the beautiful license plate that was put on the auction floor on January 4 and closed at a sky-high price of 21.855 billion VND. However, the person who won the auction for this license plate later withdrew the deposit.

According to folk beliefs, the number 8 in Sino-Vietnamese is "bat" and the pronunciation is distorted into the word "phat", meaning prosperity, wealth. The owner of this license plate is believed to have a prosperous business, a successful career, a brilliant career, and enough money. Therefore, the set of five 8s is considered to be of the "best" class, on par with the set of five 9s.

Previously, when there were no regulations on identification plates, cars with number plates numbered 8 had expensive transfer prices, often 3-5 times higher than the original value of the car.

At the end of 2022, the Mercedes GLC 200 with license plate 61A-888.88 in Binh Duong was resold after 2 years of operation for up to 7.8 billion VND, while the owner's purchase price in 2021 was only over 2.3 billion VND.

A 2015 Land Rover Range Rover with license plate 37A – 888.88 was also offered for sale by its owner in Nghe An at a high price of 2.3 billion VND before the license plate identification date of August 15, 2023.

In addition to the license plate 14A-888.88 of Quang Ninh mentioned above, in the third auction, there were also two other notable five-digit 8 license plates, which were Hanoi license plate 30K-888.88 (auctioned between 10:45 and 11:10 on April 11) and Da Nang license plate 43A-888.88 (auction date undetermined).

This "hot item" was bid for more than 32 billion VND in the first auction on September 15, 2023, causing a wave of public opinion about suspicions of artificial price hikes. In the end, the winning bidder also withdrew the deposit as rumored.

In the re-auction on October 21, 2023, the license plate 51K-888.88 won with a price of 15,265 billion VND. After that, the owner of the license plate unexpectedly attached it to an old Toyota Crown.

According to the plan, Vietnam Joint Stock Auction Company will continue to put 7,000 license plates up for auction online on April 4, divided equally into 7 time slots: 8:30-8:55, 9:15-9:40, 10:00-10:25, 10:45-11:10, 14:00-14:25, 14:45-15:10 and 15:30-15:55.
