Honoring 299 outstanding people with meritorious services nationwide
There will be 299 delegates who are war invalids, martyrs' relatives and outstanding people with meritorious services, representing millions of people with meritorious services nationwide, attending the 2016 National Conference to Honor Outstanding People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution held in Can Tho on July 23.

That was the information given at a press conference to inform about gratitude activities to commemorate the 69th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2016) organized by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in Hanoi.
The National Conference of Outstanding People with Meritorious Services is held annually to honor those who have contributed to the country. This year, the conference was held in July and was part of a series of gratitude activities to celebrate the 69th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day.
Most of the delegates attending the 2016 National Conference to honor outstanding people with meritorious services are exemplary in all areas of social life. Many war invalids, martyrs’ relatives and outstanding people with meritorious services have overcome difficulties with extraordinary determination, using their strength and intelligence to strive to stabilize their lives, enrich their homeland and country, and participate in activities that benefit society./.
| Up to now, the whole country has over 8.8 million meritorious people (accounting for nearly 10% of the population), including nearly 1.2 million martyrs, nearly 1.9 million people who helped the revolution, more than 4 million people who participated in the resistance war for national liberation, over 117,000 heroic Vietnamese mothers, nearly 800,000 wounded soldiers, more than 185,000 sick soldiers, over 312,000 resistance fighters infected with toxic chemicals... Currently, more than 1.47 million meritorious people are receiving monthly preferential allowances. |
