Bill Clinton's announcement comes as Republicans and media commentators have criticized the Clinton family for earning millions of dollars from speeches, which they say could potentially create conflicts of interest.
The former president said he would continue to give free speeches if Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic nomination, wins the White House. "I'll still be giving speeches, to people I care about, and I really enjoy doing that," he told Bloomberg TV at a Clinton Foundation meeting in Denver.
However, polls show that a growing number of Americans say they do not trust Hillary Clinton. The former president described Hillary Clinton as the "rock" of his family and said he believes Americans will gradually come to recognize that side of her.
"Whenever I had a hard time, she was always the rock in the family. I trusted her my whole life and we had many challenges," he added in the interview, which CNN said will air on Sunday.
