(Baonghean.vn) - In the first 3 months of the year, fishermen of Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu) went out to sea to catch seafood and achieved great success, with an output of 6,700 tons, and an average income of over 30 million VND per fishing trip per fisherman.

Quynh Long commune has 176 vessels with a total capacity of 48,650 CV. Currently, seafood exploitation is the key economic sector of the commune with occupations such as lead seine, 4-shaft squid fishing, 2-shaft squid fishing... contributing to creating jobs for about 1,500 workers.

Output in the first 3 months of the year in Quynh Long reached 6,700 tons of seafood.

Since the beginning of 2016, thanks to the active conversion and conversion of boats, the expansion of fishing grounds and the expansion of fishing grounds, the seafood output is estimated at 6,750 tons, of which the exploited output is estimated at 6,700 tons, reaching 21% of the annual plan, an increase of 13% over the same period last year. The estimated value is over 170 billion VND at current prices, the income of fishing workers is estimated at 8.5 million VND/month.

In March alone, the whole commune had 4 fishing boats that caught over 20 tons of seafood, earning over 30 million VND/person/trip. Those were fishing boats of fishermen Tran Loi and Tran Nam in Minh Thanh village. These 2 boats had dozens of workers participating in fishing. After about 10-15 days of fishing at sea, they caught over 20 tons of seafood. After deducting expenses, each fisherman earned 35-37 million VND/person/trip.

In March, two new vehicles were built under Decree 67-CP, with a total approved value of nearly 23 billion VND.

Squid has been harvested in large quantities in recent days by fishermen in Quynh Long.

The bumper harvest from seafood exploitation in the first 3 months of the year not only contributed to improving the lives and increasing incomes of fishermen in Quynh Long, but also created confidence and motivation to help them go offshore.
