Stick to the sea
FishermenThe coastal areas of Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu district, Dien Chau, Nghi Loc, Cua Lo town, although still facing many difficulties due to high fuel prices, depleted seafood resources, lack of seafarers... but since the beginning of the year, they have still actively stuck to the sea. There are large capacity ships, fishing for long days at sea, bringing back full holds of seafood.

Therefore, every time the boats return, the fishing ports in the province are bustling with the scene of transporting and trading seafood between fishermen and traders. Trucks loaded with seafood leave the fishing ports one by one, to the cold storages, seafood processing facilities, craft villages, etc.
Mr. Phan Van Tai's boat in Hong Hai block, Quynh Lap commune (Hoang Mai town) in the first months of this year had many trips to catch tons of valuable seafood, earning hundreds of millions of dong. Mr. Hai said that his boat usually goes 7-9 days/trip, due to his experience in the profession.seafood exploitation, so most of the trips are profitable. There are trips that catch 4-5 tons of fish, after deducting expenses, each crew member gets 5-6 million VND.

Lach Quen fishing port, Quynh Luu district is the anchorage of hundreds of large capacity boats after each voyage. Big boats, big engines, fishermen catch fish by purse seine, seine net in the open sea, so seafood often has high economic value: hairtail, squid, silver pomfret, mackerel, anchovy... There are boats that bring back hundreds of kilograms of squid that are dried in the sun right on the side of the boat, worth hundreds of thousands of VND/kg.
According to the ship owners, after catching squid, the big ones are selected to dry in the sun, after drying they are placed in barrels. Squid dried at sea is the best, so it has high economic value, a lucky trip that can dry over 100kg of squid can earn nearly 100 million VND, not to mention other seafood.

However, the cost of each trip is also high: fuel, ice, food, provisions, etc. and labor costs.

Lach Van fishing port, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district is bustling with boats, people, and vehicles coming and going to buy fish, especially transporting trays of fresh squid, mantis shrimp, crabs, etc. from boats to shore to sell at a good price. Mr. Tran Duc Giang, a fisherman in Dien Ngoc commune, excitedly said: Each season has its own products, the boat exploits the sea area about 25 nautical miles from shore, the fishing time is only one night, although the output is not much, but the freshness is delicious, not preserved with ice, so it is favored by the market, especially during the tourist season.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Dien Ngoc Commune People's Committee said: Currently, Dien Ngoc Commune has more than 252 large and small boats, mainly exploiting near-shore seafood, the products are mostly anchovies, squid, shrimp, crabs, etc. On average, each day reaches over 100 tons of various types of seafood, of which a part is sold fresh by traders at rural markets, and during the anchovy fishing season, traders come to the fishing port to buy them, steam them and dry them, or process them into fish sauce.

Along the coast of Dien Chau district, every day fishermen from the communes of Dien Thanh, Dien Ngoc, Dien Bich, Dien Hai... in addition to fishing by boat, also use rafts to catch herring, jellyfish, and mussels... earning dozens of tons per day.
